Prologue
? POV (revealed later)
she held them in her arms, so small yet, so perfect. how could anyone hate something as beautiful and sweet as this? Yet somehow I did. I watched as she finally noticed I was there. I watched as she desperately held the two twins tighter in her arms. Suddenly the door swung open, it was her husband. He looked around the room, "Juliet!" He called. Oh, he's come to save his wife. How sweet. Quickly I fixed with a stare, he fainted. Wimp, I thought.
"William!" Juliet screamed.
"Hush, young lady. It's rude to shout," I said.
Juliet stared with wide eyes, "Please, don't take them," she begged holding them even closer, if she kept doing that the poor things would be dead in minutes.
"Ah ah ah," I tsked, "we had a deal. Give them here," I took a step forward.
"Stay back!" Juliet screamed, pulling out….a butter knife?
"That is a butter knife….THAT IS A BUTTER KNIFE! How can you stop me, an immortal goddess, with that?" I asked bewildered and kind of insulted, I mean really….a butter knife?
"It won't stop you but it will give me time to do….this!" And suddenly the knife was sailing through the air, obviously I side-stepped and it impaled itself into the wall. I turned with a smirk but then I saw Juliet staring at the moon muttering.
"NO!" I screamed, "no, no,no,no!" But it was too late.
I watched in horror as Artemis, yes that Artemis zapped into the room. She stared at me with cold eyes. I filled with dread, "Why?" She asked.
"We had a deal," I spat.
"An evil, twisted, deal that you won thorough lies and deceit," Artemis corrected.
"Whatever it may be, she still made a deal, as the saying goes 'she made her bed, now she can lay in it' and plus why do you care?" I demanded.
"Juliet was one of my best hunters, I owe her,"
"Why?" I questioned. Artemis stared. She took a deep breath and whispered, "Because she saved my life." I was shocked, but refused to give in.
"So you're just going to let her off the hook? Just like that?" I asked snapping my fingers to prove my point.
"No, there's a catch." Artemis said. Then she turned and walked towards Juliet, she bent down and whispered in her ear. In seconds Juliet paled, she shook her head furiously, but Artemis stared at her firmly. Slowly Juliet nodded.
"What did you tell her? What's the catch?" I asked. Artemis came and whispered in my ear, "The boy will became mute on his fifteenth birthday. And the girl….can't fall in love. Like my hunters,except she can not go back on this choice." Then I laughed this was better than I could have ever hoped for! I nodded my consent so I watched as Artemis walked over and murmured over each child's head. The last thing I saw before we flashed out was a stroke of silver appearing in the children's hair.
