"Oh, quit being such a baby, Mike!" Vicki said as she opened the door to her office.
"Easy for you to say, Vic! You haven't been tossed 15 feet through the air to land against a concrete wall!" The blond detective answered as he followed her inside, walking awkwardly.
"Yeah, well, next time don't jump between me and the troll. I had everything under control!"
"Riiight! Vicki, you couldn't see a damn thing! Least of all that monster creeping up on you!"
"Could too!"
"Vicki," Henry interrupted, following both humans and closing the door behind him. "As much as it pains me to say it, In this case, the detective was right."
"Why thank you, Fitzroy!"
Henry ignored the man. Instead, he walked to Vicki and tenderly stroked her shoulder, before he continued. "You must be more careful!"
"Yeah, yeah." Vicki answered softly, as she saw the genuine concern in the beautiful grey eyes. "I know…"
"Isn't that sweet!"
"Mike!"
Mike didn't react. Instead he hobbled in the direction of the couch, but didn't make much headway because he moved as slowly as a snail. "I'm in pain here and she makes goo goo eyes at the undead!" he grumbled so soft under his breath only Henry could hear it.
"What was that?"
"Nothing!"
"Suit yourself!"
"I will! AWWWWWWWWW!"
"Oh, for God's sake what did you do now?!" She quickly made her way to the now huffing man. Mike seemed to have turned wrong as he went to sit down and now stood frozen, a hand desperately pushed in against his back, eyes screwed shut.
"Fitz-Roy." He pleaded from between grinding teeth. "How about one of your mind tricks, now?"
The vampire stepped in the blonds' field of vision.
"I'm sorry, detective, but your body sends those signals with just cause. Were I to mask those now, later, you might not know where exactly the problem lay."
"I – don't – care!" the man puffed out.
He was just about to give the vampire a piece of his mind, when suddenly a small but sure hand pushed in his back, which resulted in his legs giving out from under him. More out of reflex than anything, Henry caught the other man in his arms and before he could put Celluci back on his feet another shudder left the cop as Coreen expertly pressed different places on the Italian's back.
An almost guttural groan followed and Henry felt Mike's hands clutch at his shoulder as the mortal's body tensed tight as a coil. Shocked, blue eyes caught his own, and then suddenly everything seemed to resolve in a second. Irises shot wide, smooth, kissable lips parted and Mike panted, "Oh g-g-g-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-oooooooodddddddddddd," before a loud *pop* could be heard and the tall man slumped completely into Henry's embrace, head buried in the vampire's shoulder, soft puffs of air teasing the smaller man's neck, making Henry take in a deep breath in turn.
Triumphant, Coreen stepped aside, grinning brightly as two pairs of enquiring eyes looked at her.
"What? Living with a masseuse as a roommate has its perks."
"Yeah, I can see that." Vicki grinned as she looked at the picture of completely debauched police officer in Henry's arms. They actually made quite the nice pair.
Coreen only winked at her, having seen the PI's appreciative look, before she asked in a sing-song voice:
"Feeling better, Mike?"
The blonds' only reaction was a sleepy 'mmmhhh' seemingly not caring in whose arms he so serenely rested as long as he could stay there for the rest of his life.
