A cool breeze swept through the reeds in front of a small pond where I sat. I look at the sunset and I breath deeply and reflect on my wonderful life. I have a life. I have a soul. A true and pure soul that complies with the old wise saying quiet waters run deep. I miss the chance I had, the chance for life. The chance I have now is to grasp the moment because I only have this moment to be alive so I begin my story a story that is forever mine to own and to re- kindle every moment I have to live.
As I walk the streets of the city I look for someone. For now I don't know whom, but maybe if I look hard enough I will find them. I'm look for a friend, a shoulder lean when I'm sad, and laugh with when I am happy. A single soul to share my ideas, longings, and sadness. As I look through the crowd I see no one. No one looking for me, and I know I don't see the person I'm searching for. So now is the time, the time to end this painful search that haunts me so. I know not where I am or where I'm from, but I do know I hurt. I feel as if a piece of my heart is gone….
My life is about to expire as I slip deeper into the water. I can't breathe. My chest aches as the water consumes my body and the pressure crushes me.
Where am I now? I'm not in the water. I seem to be in a limbo of some sort. Suddenly, a flash of blinding red light surrounds this place I'm in. A voice. A voice is coming from somewhere, and it feels as if it is giving me the missing part of my soul. It speaks now without words straight to my inner soul. Telling me now I must go back to the world.
I awaken, in the middle of a crowded street. I'm dry now, and open my eyes to a world I do not recognize. But as I search the crowd I still don't see the one I'm searching for. Something is different about me. I walk to a nearby pond and look in. The reflection is not of myself, but a cat! I have come back to a life of more misery as a cat. I walk down the crowded street. My body is tired of this perpetual journey. Suddenly, a run away horse begins to burst through the crowd, but before I can move the horse is trampling me.
I awaken to an unfamiliar face. My body has been bandaged by this kind smiling face above me. I get up and show him gratitude the only way I can think of, by purring and rubbing my soft fur against his arm. This man is tall and has a shaggy beard and is possibly a doctor of some sort judging by the bottles of medicine all around.
He protected me when I was weak, fed me when he had nothing himself, and whether or not he knows this he has saved me from a fate much worse than death. Today I know I have ended my search and that I have found the person I have been searching for so long. A friend. A friend who does not care about outward appearance, actions, or my past.
