The flying Badger
Justin Finch-Fletchy was watching the twins from the corner of the library. He knew that the Ravenclaw girl was amazingly smart, not as smart as Hermione, but not everyone had Einstein blood. (Not literally).
"Oh hey Justin!" the Ravenclaws' sister said pulling her to the table Justin was at.
"Oh, um hi Parvati." Justin said"What's up Padma?" he said smiling shyly at Padma. Parvati went to another section of the library.
"Not a lot." She said "uhm can I talk to you tonight while we do our prefect duties?"
"Of course you can. Ill see you then Padma" he told her. She smiled at him and went to join her sister.
Justin couldn't believe he had actually spoken to her! And he also had a guarantee that they'd talk again! He was excited and could hardly wait for tonight.
"Welcome young prefects, and heads! Welcome Professors!" Dumbledore's merry voice rang out around the room. "Tonight, instead of two of you doing your regular rounds, all of you and I are going to be decorating the castle. Justin Finch-Fletchy and Padma Patil are going to be using Holly, Draco Malfoy and Hermione Granger are using mistletoe, Susan Bones and Terry Boot will have those colorful strand loop things that hang down and you twist to make shapes, and Daphne Greengrass and Seamus Finnigan will be making wreaths. While our heads, Roger Davies and Angelina Johnson will be decorating trees with the professors!" he smiled at everyone, "and you may tell first years I am Santa if they ask" he chucked thinking about the Gryffindor 1st year who had sat on his lap during breakfast that day, miss Anika Zosel was her name.
"Yes professor" everyone droned. Padma looked at Justin, happy they were paired. He smiled at her.
"Oh and the supplies are in the great hall, please begin." With that Dumbledore departed. "And don't forget, the winter ball is coming up!"
"Well let's begin" Draco said, smirking at Hermione. She blushed and said "ok, race you to the hall!" and sprinted off.
Snape looked shocked at the two then snapped "get going!"
Everyone else hurried out the door and went to get there respective supplies.
Padma caught up with Justin and said "so, um, we have holly." Justin said the first thing he could think of "I have a grandma named holly."
"That's pretty cool Justin" she liked saying his name. It made him feel more real to her somehow. She liked it when he said her name even more though.
"Thanks Padma" he said.
They had reached the great hall by then and picked up the holly. Padma levitated it and Justin placed it around the hallways as they walked. They worked silently for a while but finally Padma said what she had wanted to ask him in the library.
"Justin?"
"Yea Padma?"
"I've had a crush on you for a while, and I was wondering… will you go to the winter ball with me? You can say no, no hard feelings or anything." She managed to get out.
"Say no?" he looked shocked, he put his hands on either side of her head pushing her up against the wall and said "Padma, I could never tell you no. of course I will take you to the ball!" he looked deep into her eyes and added, "I was actually going to ask you to go with me, right before you had to leave to go to the Ravenclaw dormitory" he looked shy as he said that.
She looked above her head and whispered "mistletoe"
"It looks like Draco and Hermione have already gotten this corridor" he whispered then softly kissed her lips.
