More Good Morning, Metropolis
On set, Lois Lane and Clark Kent, who had stumbled into this guest-hosting job. Based on remembered chemistry for when they had tried out for the show before. A gig that went to one Cat Grant, much to the chagrin of one Lois Lane. Cat happened to be out on special assignment, going on a pilgrimage to Mother Teresa's Memorial House, allowing Clark and Lois to fill-in for her.
Clark couldn't help but think back on that time, if it wasn't for that audition, and subsequent disappointment for Lois, who knows how long it would have taken him to work up the courage to kiss her. When one door closes, another one opens. Clark liked that thought, and liked even more walking thru that door into Lois' heart. He just hoped that today he didn't do anything to embarrass her. That's when Clark heard Lois….
"Clark.." Lois whispered with a bit of urgency at Clark, who had been fiddling with his tie, looked up and smiled. "Lois.." not bothering to whisper back.
Lois knew the producer of the show really liked their chemistry, which was the only reason they were here today, but all thoughts of chemistry went out of her mind, instead replaced by all the blood in her body rushing towards her brain.
Lois closed her eyes briefly, and tried again.
"Clllarrkk.." she whispered with even more emphasis. Clark leaned in. " You know, I really like what you're wearing, but I hope I get to see that Scottish lassie outfit again. He flashed a smile. A smile that then dropped by a thought. "Lois, is it me or are the commercial breaks in TV, really long?" Lois put a hand up to cover her face, and really tried to whisper to Clark with an utter sense of urgency. "CLARK!" Clark put up a hand, and says, "Don't worry Lois, I'm all over this. He recalled their awkward try-out for the show, a few months ago. He never noticed the various shades of crimson and purple coloring his partner's face. Clark went on, "I know that when the red light comes on, that's our cue to start talking. Well really, you start talking, cuz I remembered you telling me that my job was to sit here and- "look pretty". Lois wasn't talking. Hmmm. "Right, Lois?" Clark ventured. Which prompted Lois to finally say, "Clark, the red light IS on. Deep heart-felt-you-are-so-dead-later sigh, "In fact, the red light HAS BEEN ON for the past 2 minutes."
Clark gave a look towards the camera, sure enough, red light. At that moment, Clark would have rather have faced a room full of kryptonite, then Lois. Taking a deep breath, Clark smiled bravely into that camera, and said, "Good morning, Metropolis. I just showed you all that even if your day starts out not quite the way you had envisioned, we are all here for each other to make the day a little bit brighter. "
There was a huge sigh of relief from the floor producer, who had started to make a noose out of her headset cord. The camera guys all gave approving glances to each other, and as they cut away to the first video segment, even Lois Lane had to say, "Nice save, Smallville." Clark looked over at his lady love, "Well Lane, that's what I'm here for. He waited for a beat, then added, "One save at a time."
