You are the finest,

loveliest, tenderest,

and most beautiful

person I have ever know and even that

is an understatement.

She never knew how he could love her. She had so many scars, so many problems. She had been through heartaches most people her age could only dream off. She had countless, recurring nightmares. She had emotional breakdowns.

She was broken.

He had love. He had passion. He was strong and he fought, fought hard for everything. He was good, compassionate and kind. He made friends wherever he went. Sure, he had emotional and physical scars. I mean, who doesn't.

He conquered them.

And that was something, she could only dream of doing. He was right and she was wrong. She wished she could feel like her old self again. She wished she could feel normal. She wished her life, her body, her mind would go back to being beautiful again.

She wished she was beautiful. But she wasn't.

He was handsome. Very handsome. How could someone like her ever be with someone like him?

He was amazing. She was not.

And that hurt. That hurt a lot.

What good is something broken. . . that could not be repaired?

"Luce?"

Lucy turned around.

"N-Natsu? What are you doing here?" she asked.

"I came to check on you. You looked down when you left the guild earlier. Is something wrong?" Natsu's face was relaxed, compassion and love showing in his eyes.

"O-Oh no. I'm fine. Thanks for asking though." Lucy said, flustered. Natsu tensed. An expression of slight fury showed on his handsome face.

"Luce, I'm a dragon slayer. I can smell when you're lying. I can hear when your heart beats faster. I can see when you avoid eye contact. Tell me what's wrong." Natsu demanded.

Lucy opened her mouth before closing it shut.

"Please." He whispered, almost begging. She flinched.

She didn't have to have his acute hearing to easily hear the hurt in his voice. She looked hesitant for a second before replying in a hoarse voice.

"Natsu, why do you still come here?" she asked, a sad glow in her eyes.

"What do you mean?" he asked, sensing something was wrong.

"I'm broken. I have scars. I've been through so many hardships. I'm nothing. I'm not beautiful. I'm not like those buxom, amazing girls you see everyday."

Natsu glared at her.

"Luce, how can you say that. I don't want them, I want you and don't give me that crap about how you have scars. We all have scars. Everyone of us on Fairy Tail is broken but you don't let that stop us. You're amazing, Luce."

"Natsu?" Lucy whispered, almost scared about what he was going to say next. Natsu's face softened.

"Lucy, you are the finest, loveliest, tenderest and most beautiful person I have even known and even that is an understatement."
