As there was no words or expressions powerful enough to describe what they were participating in, the fire they were feeding, nor was there a single emotion so strong and consuming. It was something passionate and fractured something unsateable and, to both, repulsive. It was bloody and without mercy on each side, neither could hesitate or was allowed to give up. It ended when both were sufficiently bruised, bloodied and exhausted, it was the only way they could believe they were going somewhere. The only way left to get ahead in this new world without purpose.
What they both had given name to as merely training was disguise for helplessness and a pulsing, overwhelming rage just waiting to explode in each at the slightest provocation. Each tried different approaches to ease the loss but it never lasted and each found the other was the only thing left keeping them sane. Maybe the right word wouldn't be sane, this wasn't sane, yet it made things better somehow. Twenty five years to this night both their captains had fled soul society together. They had helped one another escape and abandoned both of them, leaving lost love, broken trust and dreams to never be fulfilled.
Kurotsuchi looked to her, crouched beside him and staring ahead into the night between the trees. The look was of a hurt and anger that nothing physical could cause. Above her swollen lip, the blood streak that lead to her nose, past even the dark swelling around her eyes were tears appearing from nothing but her recalled memories. He wasn't such an open book and his smile was enough to tell that story a hundred times over. Soifon looked to him and saw the curling, wide smile, despite cracked bleeding lips that redened his teeth along with the assortment of bruises where his makeup had smeared off she couldn't help but to feel bitter. The irony was that though the same thing happened to each of them, because of it, he had gained all he ever wanted and she had lost all she had dedicated her life to.
Author's Note: Just found this on an old usb from a few years ago. I fixed it up a bit but can't remember what it was meant to be.
