A/N: I'm back! Sorry I took an age to get back but stuff's happened and you wouldn't believe the amount of writer's block I've had. This is for the February Exchange Fic on the HPFC Forum, written for hillstar. Sorry it's so late! This is sort of a prequel to the next morning

Disclaimer: I own nothing

Characters and pairings: Sirius/Marlene

Prompt(s): [word] fortunate

Changed Feelings

Sirius was confused. He had never been fortunate enough to feel love or affection growing up and he'd never seen it between his parents so he had no idea what to make of this feeling in the pit of his stomach as he stared across the transfiguration classroom, to a small girl with waving blonde locks called Marlene McKinnon.

He was always one of those guys who never held a girlfriend for longer than a week; if he was attracted to one he'd just snog or even fuck them if they let him before dumping them once he was bored of them. This was different though, it was Marlene, who was not only someone you couldn't do that to due to her prowess in hexes, but also one of Lily's best friends. She was also Prongs' closest female friend, and that in itself spelt trouble if he ever hurt her (not that he wanted to).

His feelings kept on stirring when Moony looked down at him strangely, "Padfoot, aren't you coming? It's the end of class," he commented, looking a touch concerned at his best friend's behaviour at that point in time.

"Yeah, yeah, I'm coming," Sirius replied, picking up his books and leaving, never taking his eyes off Marlene.

Marlene McKinnon was not a stupid girl. She knew that Sirius Black was watching her for the entire class. Her heart skipped a beat at that. For a very long time she knew that she liked Sirius Black, just as she knew that one of her best friends, Lily, liked James Potter, no matter how much she denied it.

Although her heart skipped a beat when Sirius was watching her, everyone knew his reputation, and she didn't want to be just another notch on his bedpost. He had never bedded anyone from her dormitory and Marlene had a feeling that he was simply too scared about what Lily (or Emmeline) would do if he did his usual routine on any of the girls in the dorm.

She felt her cheeks heat up slightly as he continued staring at her, determined to not look his way because she knew she'd be doomed if that happened. His gorgeous grey eyes always felt so penetrating, as if he could see inside her brain and realise how much she likes him.

Lily whispered to her softly, "Is it just me or has Black not taken his eyes off of you all class?"

Marlene shot Lily a look and then nodded with a small smile; Lily knew she was soft for Sirius anyway.

"If he does his usual routine with you I'll kill him," she growled under her breath.

Marlene smirked and headed out of class, feeling Sirius' hot eyes against her back as she left the classroom. Her cheeks warmed up as she knew that he would pursue her tonight, and she wouldn't be able to say no.

A/N2: Well that was that. Again, sorry for the lateness of the fic hillstar.
