His hair fell over his eyes. He brushed it away, a tad bit impatiently as he was writing down something on the map. Maybe he was marking down the route for tomorrow.

I watched him brushing his hair aside again. The hair didn't seem to want to stay put. It kept on falling over his eyes. He held it with his left hand now after a couple more unsuccessful brushing.

It was getting longer, I noticed. His face was a picture of concentration as a slight frown was apparent. He looked different without that fringe of hair covering his forehead.

He gave up on the hair now as he placed his left hand on the map to hold it from moving as he was writing on it. Needless to say, the hair fell down again, smoothly like silk. He blinked several time and tossed his head aside to shoo the hair away, unsuccessfully.

I didn't know what I was thinking when I reached out and stroke his hair away from covering his vision. He looked up in surprise.

"Oh," he muttered uncertainly.

I kept my hold on the offending hair.

"Just finish up already."

He seemed to want to say something but decided against it. I knew he'd smile because that's what he always did. Yes, he smiled and bent down to his map again.

I kept my hand at the side of his head, holding his hair back from covering his vision.

I hoped he'd finish soon, my hand was getting numb.

A few strands of dark coloured hair fell from my hold. I was right. His hair was as smooth as silk.
