We Are the Flutists Who Don't Play Anything

We are the flutists who don't play anything,

We just sit around and break our flutes.

And if you ask us to play anything,

We'll just tell you, "We don't play anything!"

Well, I've never played a C-flat,

And I've never played an E-sharp,

And I've never played a concert in sixth grade or concert band.

And I've never played an F-flat,

And I've never a B-sharp,

And I've never played in fourth-period class!

'Cause we're the flutists who don't play anything,

We just sit around and break our flutes.

And if you ask us to play anything,

We'll just tell you, "We don't play anything!"

And I've never played a trumpet,

And I've never played an oboe,

And I've never played the clap game,

'Cause I never play at all.

And I've never played the bagpipes,

And I've never played the cymbals,

And I've never played in fourth-period class!

We all wake up late for lunch,

We don't smoke,

We don't chew,

We watch Captain Kangaroo!

And I've never licked a spark plug,

And I've never sniffed a stinkbug,

And I've never painted saxes

On a big red rubber ball.

And I've never bathed in valve grease,

And I don't look good in leggings…

And she's never played in fourth-period class!
