Bzzt. A light at the end of the road flickered off. A lone girl walked quickly along the deserted street. Bzzt. The last remaining light faded into the black abyss. The girl should have been worried, she should have been afraid, but she was too preoccupied with her thought to be observing what was going on around her.
All she could thin about was how late she was and how much trouble she was going to be in when she finally got home. She was so wrapped up in her thoughts that she didn't see the shady character creeping steadily behind her. Feeling as if someone was watching her, she turned around quickly, and, almost as if on cue, the stranger disappeared.
She shrugged it off and considered it as nothing. The eerie figure continued its prowl. Her thoughts returned to her home and the glorious dinner she had missed. Her father was not going to be pleased. Her mind wandered to the last punishment she got for being late. The dark figure grew closer.
Her pace slowed, as she became reluctant to go home for fear of what might happen to her. The figure got closer still. A chilly wind, forecasting a grim outlook on things to come blew across her path. She drew her coat closer to her body and breathed into her hands. For the first time, she realized she was in total darkness.
The character drew nearer. He stretched out his hand and grabbed her shoulder. She nearly bolted out of her skin in fright. A loud scream erupted from her lips, like magma from a volcano, but was cut off as the cretin covered them with his other hand, effectively silencing her.
With barely any effort at all he dragged her into the nearest alleyway and threw her to the floor. She hadn't realized it, but he had removed his hand. Staring there transfixed, she felt like a little girl again. Fear ripped at her every limb, striking them until they were numb. The cloaked figured cackled evilly at his captive. The sinister look in his eyes relayed to her she wasn't meant to leave there alive.
He leant over her body and started going through her pockets knowing fully well she was too scared to fight back. He grinned sadistically as he finished and pulled a hunting dagger out of his pocket. He held it purposefully to her neck. She understood what he meant to do immediately. She closed her eyes. She didn't want to see this.
NO!!!!! She wasn't going to take this lying down. Her eyes snapped open. She fought with him, won control of the knife, plunged it into his heart and ran. What a close call, she thought, I was nearly dead.
