Happy Birthday James

'Today is the day' thought Lily Evans as she looked in the mirror. Today she had considerably shortened her skirt and had undone some of the buttons on her shirt. Her hair cascaded down her back in neat curls. 'Just the way James likes it.'
As Lily joined her friends in the great hall for breakfast, her friends gaped at her...as did most of the male population.
"What's with the clothes Lily?" asked Alice.
"Oh, just a special birthday surprise for James," answered Lily digging into her waffles.
"Oi Prongs! Wouldja check out Evans?" said Sirius.
As another group of girls left after wishing him a happy birthday, James turned and looked over at Lily. He instantly noticed exactly what Sirius was talking about. Her skirt was much shorter than she usually wore it, and the top buttons on her shirt were undone so he could see a generous amount of skin.
"Why the sudden change? Gods, she's such a tease." Groaned James.
"Maybe its a surprise for a certain birthday boy?" smirked Remus.
"Wow! Evans can surprise me any day!" exclaimed Sirius laughing.
"Shut up Padfoot! You know I called dibs in first year!" said James whacking Sirius with a croissant.
"Hey! What was that for?! You should know by now that I'm only joking!" said a miffed Sirius.
"Yes, but Padfoot, to James Lily isn't a joking matter. You should know that by now," explained Remus.
During this friendly banter, James had been looking over in Lily's direction. As he saw her get up and leave the great hall, he said, "I'll catch up to you guys in Transfiguration. See you later."
James made his way up to the Gryffindor tower as he thought about where Lily might be.
"Password?" asked the Fat Lady.
"Chocolate frogs" answered James entering the common room. Upon his entrance he saw Lily sitting there, still wearing her provocative outfit.
"Hey Lily," said James. "What time are we patrolling tonight?"
"Oh, I asked the Hufflepuff prefects if they would take our shifts tonight, and we'll take theirs next week." replied Lily.
"What's wrong with tonight?" asked James. As far as he knew the only thing that was different from any other night was that today was his birthday. He had shifted patrols with the Ravenclaws for her birthday the year before, but he didn't think she remembered.
"Well I figured you would want to party with your friends tonight seeing as today is your birthday," said Lily with a smile.
"Oh, um, alright. Thanks," said James as he turned to go.
"Wait, James?"
"Yeah?"
And before he knew what was going on, Lily's lips were on his. As she broke away, she turned and bounded up the girls' staircase saying simply:
"Happy Birthday James."
