Just a short little something!

Prompt: stars

After her outburst in the Hospital Wing, Tonks stormed out. She had no interest in hearing how Hagrid had moved Dumbledore, and she had no interest in watching Remus try and convince her and everyone else that he didn't care about her.

So she left.

She wandered the halls of the now deserted Hogwarts, letting her feet take her wherever they wanted.

Eventually, she was at the edge of the lake, and she sat down in the shade of a nearby tree. The calm water soothed her, and she was able to relax if only for a moment. The reflection of her tree glittered under the stars, but to her they were dull.

She sighed, and let the tears fall.

She wasn't aware how long she sat under that tree, but she did know she hadn't seen a soul. Living or otherwise.

Suddenly, there was someone else next to her. The figure sat down and sighed, reaching out to rest a hand on hers.

She recoiled immediately.

"Leave me alone, Remus. I'm really not in the mood right now."

"Not happening," he said, almost cheerfully. "I have to say something and I want you to listen."

"What can you say that will fix anything? I've heard it all, and I've told you how I feel-"

"I know how you feel. You're right." he murmured, cutting her off in that irritating way that only he could manage, with a quiet voice that made you want to listen to whatever he had say.

"Pardon?" she asked. This was new.

"You're right." he repeated. "About everything, and I realize now that I've been foolish."

She snorted. "You can say that again."

"Please stop interrupting. I think I've been stupid to push you away. And… I think I'm ready to try."

She could hardly believe what she was hearing. "Try what?"

"This, us, if this is even a thing anymore."

"You're willing to try us?"

"Yes." he said, and when she looked over to him, his eyes told her yes.

She sighed. "What do you have to show me you won't just run away when things get bad?"

"This…" he murmured, a second later something cold and metallic was being pressed into her hands. "Nymphadora Tonks, you are the craziest, most wonderful woman I know, and if you will take me, I want you to marry me. I know that this is really sudden and abrupt and after we just had this fight and everything in front of everyone-"

He was cut off as she kissed him. "Shut up and kiss me already." she murmured, and he obliged.

When they parted for air he grinned. "Is that a yes then?"

"What do you think you daft git?"

"I think I'm the luckiest guy in the world," he said with a goofy smile.

She laughed.

The stars were shining again.

Don't worry, Aftermath is still updating! I just needed a short little break.
