"Come somewhere with me tomorrow. Wear something machine washable."

Kurt's eyes grew huge.

"It's a precaution - nothing more - I'll have a blanket, but grass stains are so much easier to remove when you can handle them at home."

Kurt sighed. "It's a good thing I've been borrowing stuff from you and forgetting to return it."

Blaine glared at him. "You have my favorite jeans, don't you?"

"Seriously, though be casual. I'll pick you up at 11."

Kurt rolled his eyes. "Yes, sir," he replied.

Blaine kissed him softly, and Kurt bumped their noses together.

"Love you."

"Love you, too."

"Blaine, where are we going?"

"You'll see soon enough."

"I'm wearing a blindfold, and you tied my hands together. I won't be 'seeing' anything anytime soon."

Blaine reached across the console, rubbing his thumb along Kurt's wrist. "It's a surprise, and I didn't want to spoil it," he said.

Kurt sighed, settling into his seat.

When the car halted a few minutes later, Blaine withdrew his hand, shutting off the engine and exiting the car. "Stay put for a minute," he said. "I'll come around to get you."

Kurt heard the door bang shut and one of the rear doors opened. He heard Blaine grunt as he removed something from the back seat, and then his own door was being tugged open. Blaine reached across him to unfasten his seat belt and untie his wrists. Kurt reached for the cloth around his eyes, only to be stopped by Blaine's hands on his arms. "Not yet," he said softly. "Come on, I'll help you get out."

Kurt awkwardly climbed out of the car and shifted to the side. After he'd locked up the car, Blaine turned to Kurt and tugged something over his arms. Kurt felt a backpack settle against his back, and then Blaine was in front of him, tugging Kurt's arms over his shoulders. Blaine pushed Kurt's hands together. "Hold on tight!" he said, bending down and yanking at Kurt's legs.

"Blaine, what are you - whoa - are you insane?!" Kurt squeaked, clasping his hands tightly around Blaine's neck.

"No," Blaine huffed. "Just...trying...to keep...the...surprise..."

"Blaine, if you collapse while carrying me, it's gonna be ruined anyway."

"No," Blaine panted. "Just...a few...more...steps..."

Kurt could feel Blaine's hands shaking and clung a little tighter.

"There!" Blaine said triumphantly, releasing his hold on Kurt's legs and letting him slide to the ground. "Okay, don't move for a sec."

Blaine tugged the backpack off, and Kurt crossed his arms over his chest as he listened carefully. He simply could not figure out where they were or what Blaine was doing.

"Okay," Blaine whispered, and Kurt jumped a little as Blaine tugged at the cloth over his eyes. "What do you think?" he asked, stepping away.

A large, old blanket was spread out in the shade of an oak tree, a pile of books at one end and containers of snacks at the other. An extra blanket was neatly folded at one edge.

"Blaine, why..."

"Come on." He tugged on Kurt's hand. "You lie down right here." He pointed. Kurt lay down on his back, tucking his knees up a little so his feet would still be on the blanket.

Blaine sat down, his back resting against Kurt's legs, and grabbed two of the books.

"Here." He handed one to Kurt, who shook his head. "...Do you want a different one?" Blaine asked.

"Read to me," Kurt said softly, closing his eyes. "I like listening to your voice." He took a deep breath. "This is beautiful," he whispered.

Blaine smiled and began to read.
