Spoilers for Order of the Phoenix, major ones.
Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter or Sirius Black, that honor goes to JK Rowling. If I did own HP Sirius wouldn't have died.
By Honor's Vow
Though long the days I did not know your name,
Ever in my heart you are mine friend,
Never though the seasons change and hearts grow ever weary,
Will my memory fade
'Gainst the short times we shared together,
Black might be thy name and heir though light shines ever on,
In light you shall be remembered, death shall be no boundary,
Vengeance shall I hold in wait until we meet once more,
By life you were betrayed by those you held in confidence,
In the eternal sleep you shall know fidelity,
To the best of mine ability,
Though the wrongs of the past cannot be undone,
Of all the darkness the creature wrought,
By day and trials of mine own tribulations,
With Phoenix song and tears,
We fight forever onward to honor the memories
Of friends no longer near, except in the breadth of our hearts,
Where no sacrifice can be held dearer,
The memory of fear and injustice that your death has left should be known
To no child,
Yet here I stand,
Alone among my friends,
To remember those that have gone before
Those that will leave us,
Yet, we fight not only for memories of the past but also for the grace of the future,
For a time when no child, no man will have to face the darkness that we have seen,
For a time when we can be free again,
A time of laughter and of joy when the darkness is only memory,
When finally we can make our own choices
Unguided by a manipulator's hand, whether for good or ill,
Stolen lives we have both been forced to live,
By my own vow and all the power I might hold within my grasp,
No other will suffer as we have suffered,
Dear Sirius what lies we've been forced to bear,
For the sake of public's safety,
A safety that we never had the chance to feel,
Our sacrifice to pay for wizard's folly and magic's sake,
No trust I have, but by my own witness and council,
We've been betrayed too much these few years for me to trust with ease,
Steady I shall hold this course in your remembrance,
Sorrow follows to the very end I know,
I have no choice but to play the course I'm dealt,
Yet, for you I do with pride what I do only with scorn for other's sake,
Hate and fury grow within as I remember what little choice I had to make,
A choice, which led to your destruction,
If only the past could be erased what choices I'd make,
I am not light, not dark,
But only a weapon to be dealt by Dumbledore's hand,
At either end, victory or defeat,
I've lost all that matters most to me,
But by my will I fight for thee,
Unnecessary death was yours,
Yet, you will not be forgotten,
Justice will be wrought even by my own hand,
By honor's vow do I pledge thus,
Harry James Potter in remembrance of Sirius Orion Black.
I still can't believe she killed off Sirius, especially after all the background she gave him beforehand. My only consolation is that he can somehow come back from that world behind the veil. I didn't even like Sirius that much but this poem from Harry's pov begged to be written.
