She watched as Sonny dismissed his current wife, the one carrying his child to go see Olivia. She knew it and so did Claudia. Carly knew just like Claudia that his love for Olivia was everlasting. Even when she was married to Sonny, there was a part of him that Carly could never seem to hold onto for more than a few minutes at a time. But now she saw the pain in Claudia's eyes and she had never felt so bad for the woman in her life. They could've been friends and they both knew it, but instead their personalities got in the way of their friendship. She looked down at her expanded stomach and then looked at Claudia's. The two lives they were carrying, were one in the same. Pregnancies are the same stories just sometimes the endings are different or maybe the situations are different. That's how it was for Carly and Claudia. Carly's husband loved her and her little girl more than life, but Carly knew in her heart that Sonny did not love Claudia the way everyone deserved to be loved. She felt bad and had pity for her, if she was Claudia she would've left a long time ago, stayed at the Metro Court and took care of herself and her baby. She could see the look in Claudia's eyes, though. She loved the man, even though she would never admit it and Carly knew that love for Sonny was paralyzing. She felt a chill run through her body, she wanted to help. But how could she? Claudia needed to be removed from Sonny, detached from him, for her health as well as the baby's health. An idea struck her and she ran with it.
Moments later, she had finished her task, she looked up from the computer desk to see Claudia sitting in the same chair she was when her and Sonny had first arrived. A look of regret and sadness, spread across her face. Carly walked over to her and sat down in the chair next to her, Claudia moved to get up but Carly grabbed her wrist and pulled her back down to the chair.
"Carly, Sonny says that I get you too stressed out, I don't want to hurt you or your baby." She whispered.
Carly looked at her up and down. The powerful woman she had met last year was gone, it was just her shell now. She was a weak and afraid little girl again and Carly saw it.
"Don't listen to him, ever, ever again, okay?"
"Why?"
"Because I know the way Sonny loves and treats people, it's not good for you or the baby. You need to get out of the mess you call a marriage."
Claudia shook her head.
"I can't." She said softly.
"Yes you can. Look take this," she handed her the room key, "you can stay in room as long as you need to."
Claudia looked touched.
"Thank you, but why?"
"Because I was once in your shoes, and believe me they aren't comfy. You need to do what you have to do to make sure that your baby makes it inot this world healthy. That's nearly impossible when you're with Sonny."
"Thank you, so much."
"My pleasure, take care or yourself and that baby."
Carly walked back over to her desk, feeling more confident than ever. She had finally done something that didn't benefit her at all, but just helped someone else. She still felt bad for Claudia, having a child with Sonny could never be changed or reversed, but at least she would be free of him like she was.
CZC-CZC-CZC-
This drabble has been in my head for a long time. I've always thought if maybe Claudia had, had someone there to talk to maybe she would've gotten out of that marriage and maybe things would've worked out better. Hope you guys liked it!
