Petunia Evans sat down on the swing with an angry huff. She kicked listlessly at the grass beneath her feet. Life for young Petunia was simply not fair.
Why did her parents have to favor that freak Lily? Why couldn't they, just once, give their oldest daughter a second glance? Was normal not good enough for the Evans parents?
It was always Lily this and Hogwarts that. Petunia was never given a second glance.
Her family were not the only ones to reject Petunia. She had hoped that Hogwarts would be willing to train her in magic as well but she was turned down by a strange man known as Dumbledore.
Lily was the only one willing to give Petunia the time of day. Petunia knew that she should not be so cruel to her younger sister, but she can not help it. Every time Lily tries to speak with Petunia magic is brought into the conversation and Petunia can not stand to hear about the great adventures she can never have.
Sitting alone in the park Petunia finally allows herself to cry. She is interrupted by the boy who lives three houses down the street. Vernon Dursley is burly, loud, and deliciously normal.
He asks her what's wrong and she tells him that her parents have rejected their normal daughter for her freak of a sister. He is the first person who is not offended by her words or tells her to be kinder to her family. Instead he sits there and lets her spill her heart out and after she is finished he does not judge her.
Instead he tells her that he finds normal rather attractive.
