Chapter 1: Mysterious Past

Nessie's POV

I let out a high sigh as I finished packing my bags. I was sure going to miss this place, that was for sure. It was a heartbreaking thing, that was for sure. Tragedy after tragedy. But there was nothing that we could do.

My brother, EJ, and I were being sent to live with our aunt in New York City. I tried not to cry as I thought over everything that had happened in the last few months.

My parents had both died, within mere months of each other. First it was my dad. He died in a car accident last September. Now my mom had recently just passed. She had leukemia that wasn't discovered until recently. Unfortunately it was too late. She died two months after they discovered her cancer.

My parents were the best parents that any of us could ever ask for. EJ and I were not biologically related to them, but that didn't matter to us. We were family in every sense of the word. We were family in everything but blood. My brother and I had been found deep in the forest of Washington. It was about halfway between a small town called Forks and Seattle. We had just been dumped as if we were nothing more then mere pieces of trash. We were dying of hypothermia and starvation when we were found. We were taken to a hospital where we made a miraculous recovery.

Then we were adopted by the very people that found us. Our parents. The hospital had taken a DNA sample from both my brother and I and as it turned out we were biologically related. Our parents named us Renesmee and EJ. EJ didn't stand for anything, my parents just liked that name for him for some reason. I was the one that got stuck with the ridiculously long and weird name. Mostly I just went by Nessie though. It was so much easier to remember.

We could not have lived happier lives...until now that is. Right now we lived in Los Angeles, CA. We had moved here when we were five years old. We were now 16 years old. I didn't want to leave this place. I also didn't want to leave all the memories behind either. But since my brother and I were only 16 years old we didn't have a choice. We didn't have anymore relatives or legal guardians to look after us. None that were here anyway. That is why we are being sent all the way across the country. It's just all way too painful.

"Hey Nessie are you okay?" I heard my brother ask. I looked up and saw him standing in my doorway.

"I'm fine" I said. "As fine as I can be under the circumstances anyway"

"It's okay Nessie. We will be okay" my brother said as he went up to me and hugged me. I swear if I didn't have him I would be going crazy right now.

"I just can't believe that they are gone" I said tearfully.

"I know" he said. "I feel the same way" His voice was starting to break. Soon he would also be crying and not just me. I was right, he started to cry as well.

We remained that way for a long time. We just cried and cried and cried until we could not cry anymore.

Please let me know what you all think.
