Chapter 1: An Old Dusty Mirror.

"Well that was a disaster." Soul sighed. He and Maka just came back from another failed mission. This time, they tried to take the soul of a kishin that was extremely dimwitted. So dimwitted that it threw itself off a cliff while running from Maka and Soul. Unfortunately, since they didn't technically kill it themselves, they weren't able to take it's soul so they had to leave empty handed.

They were approaching Lord Death's office to deliver the bad news. As they got near, they could hear Death talking with Spirit, Sid, and Professor Stein.

"It's pretty old looking."

"Kinda ugly too."

"Oh come now! I think it will make a wonderful replacement."

Confused, Maka and Soul entered the office and saw the four staff members standing in front of Death's mirror To be more exact, Death's new mirror. It was a lot bigger then the old one and had a demon's face carved into the wood on top. It looked very ancient.

Lord Death noticed the two. "Oh hello! Soul and Maka! How are you doing today?"

"MAKA MY LITTLE GIRL! GIVE DADDY A HU-" Spirit got a book to the face instead.

"What's with the creepy mirror?" Soul asked. "What happened to the other one?"

Lord Death got nervous. "Kid sorta broke it tying to make it symmetrical." He admitted. "We got this new mirror at a great price from an antique store!"

Maka and Soul gave each other a unsure glance. "Well I hope it works out for you." Maka said.

"By the way, how did you two do on your mission?"

Maka and Soul blushed and looked down. "The kishin sorta threw itself off a cliff." They admitted.

Awkward Silence.

"Well...Good luck on your next assignment!" Death chirped.

Still feeling embarrassed, Maka and Soul said goodbye and left the office while Stein and Sid approached Death.

"Are you sure this is the right mirror? It's giving on a unnatural vibe." Sid said. "And I know my vibes. That was the kind of man I was."

"I agree." Stein said. "Something's off about that mirror."

"Oh. You two are just being paranoid." Death said. "Come now. It's time for tea." The three left with Sid dragging Spirit behind him, leaving the mirror by itself in the room.
