AN: Another 'drabble' yep longer than 100 words but it's just about as close as I get this was a prompt from Morrighan. I hope you enjoy!

Behind the Smile
"Really you look fine," The Doctor assured for what had to be the hundredth time.
"Says the man with two perfectly good eyebrows," Rose tossed back with an accusing tone. She looked up at him through singed eyelashes still managing to look sexy despite her glare.
The Doctor knew there was no real heat behind her words, his companion continued to avoid the eyes of the citizen's they past her right hand unconsciously rubbing at her forehead every couple of minutes. The Doctor took Rose's hand suddenly pulling her closer to him, "Don't let it bother you," he smiled.
Rose blinked up at him, "You asked for my help," she pointed out completely unimpressed.
"How was I supposed to know it would explode?"
She stared at him for a moment, "Umm...she's your TARDIS?" Rose returned incredulously.
"Oh, well..." he trailed off not entirely sure how to respond. The Doctor's sharp brown eyes darted around the building he and Rose had wandered into, and he immediately brightened. "Look Rose!" he exclaimed excitedly, "We're standing in the middle of the Renaissance! So much was created here!" He was grinning wildly unable to contain his excitement any longer.
He caught the sight of a smile tugging at Rose's lips, her expression brightening. "Just who is it you're taking me to see?" she asked and for the first time that day she sounded like her old self, the accident that morning forgotten for the time being.
The Doctor came to a stop outside a door that looked like all the others and squeezed Rose's hand, "A genus!" The Doctor opened the door to a large studio occupied by one man. "Rose let me introduce Leonardo da Vinci."
Rose stepped deeper into the room, where Leonardo was standing before a painting. He turned at their entrance a smile spreading on his weathered features. "What a handsome girl," da Vinci breathed stepping away from his painting.
He strode behind Rose hands pressed deep in his pockets. This was his favorite part of the trips, before the inevitable running that was. He loved to watch Rose interact with these people she'd read about in school, to see those words on paper come alive. It was as close as he could get to really showing her what it was like to be a Time Lord.
The Doctor watched as Rose walked with da Vinci to his canvas, for the first time that day actually tucking her blond hair behind one ear. "She's beautiful," Rose said looking from the painting to the painter, "But she has no face..."
Leonardo smiled, gazing at his unfinished work, "I've been searching for inspiration," he commented eyes looking to Rose in a considering way.
The last of the Time Lords couldn't keep the smile from his face; Rose would be the answer to that mysterious smile. It was another paradox; but it all worked clearly in the Doctor's head, even if it would leave the brightest men wincing.
