Chapter 5

"I see sir and how can I help you asked?" asked Vincent politely. "Y'see we built a new reactor
in a place called corel. The locals are now trying to sell land to us that we need as bizarely
high prices. What should we do?" questioned Heidegger.
"We could burn the town to the ground and say it was because the people attacked the reactor."
"And what if the townspeople got their story out?"
"Leave no survivors."
"Excellent," said Scarlet who just joined in the conversation," I will leave tomorrow for Corel
with some troops!"
" You have the makings of a remarkable leader Valentine. But before I promote you to head of the
Turks you must first prove yourself," said Heidegger.
" And how can I do that?"
" We're having trouble with a new Shinra executive," said Scarlet as shue sipped from a glass of
champagne," his name's Reeve, he's investigating corruption within shinra, we need you to
"convince" him there's nothing worth investigating.....

Everyone was silent as they looked at Barret. He brandished his missing score and loaded it.
But Cloud stood in his way and commanded him not to touch Vincent until his story was complete.
"Vincent," said Tifa," are these your real sins, are these atrocities why you shut yourself
away for so long".
"They're only a part of it," said Vincent," the real reason is much worse, but we'll come to
that later....

Vincent jumped down the shaft and landed on top of the moving train. It was two days after
the party and it was also the day Heidegger chose for him to "prove" himself.
The wind hit him in the face as he hurdled down the dark tunnel. He crawled along the roof
of the train his navy blue Turk uniform being overed in dirt. Then he reached it. The box
that gave power to the train. He yanked it open and ripped out a handfull of wires.
At once the train stopped. He then slid down into the carriage that contained his victim.

Reeve glanced around the carriage. It was almost total darkness. The only light was coming
from the emergency lighting outside the train. Then he saw a shadow emerge in front of him.
"Don't make a sound or I'll blow your brains out," said the shadow," ok I'll this simple,
you're to stop your investigations into corruption imediately."
"And if I don't?"
" Your wife Carrie and that daughter yours might have a little "accident","said the figure.
"You're also going to let me into the top secret Shinra archive tomorrow, and now one is to
ever hear of our lttle encounter".
"OK.... j.. just don't hurt Carrie or Ruth...."
"They wont come to any harm if you play by the rules."

With that Vincent took off out the train door and down the tracks. Five minutes later the lights
went back on and the train continued it's journey.

It was 10:30 pm the next day and Reeve was still shivering from the train incident. He was
standing in the freezing cold outside the Shinra building. The hole place was closed and he'd
have to use his card key to get in the back way. Then he saw the figure moving towards him.
He could tell it was the same guy from the train. As the figure stepped under the lamplight
Reeve saw the man had a kierchief covering his mouth. Take me to the war files the man told
him. "Yes... of.. okay," replied Reeve. The two of them hurried up the back staircase in case
they were seen by any of the security guards. After about 60 flights of stairs Reeve had to use
his card key to get into the lift. He pressed the button for the library floor.
"Who.. who are you?" asked Reeve. "I'll ask the questions you just shut up," replied Vincent.
They then reached the library and Vincent walked straight into the military room.
He walked over the file on the war and started to alter history....

Chapter 6

"I altered all the records that included me," said Vincent as he lay on the grass beside the
Highwind airship." I changed it so that the incidents in Wutai, Gongaga and Corel never
happened." Vincent shifted on the ground so he could sit up.
" Heidegger was so pleased with how I handled the Reeve incident that when he promoted me
to head of the Turks I became part of a top secret Shinra project. A black project very few
people knew about. The Jenova project...

The truck rattled uncomfortably and Vincent cursed the pains in his ass. They couldn't take
a helicopter to Nibleheim because it would arouse suspiscion among the village people.
The truck drew to a halt outside the Shinra mansion in the village. The place was a kip
thought Vincent. The roads were dusty, only one van in the whole town lying rusted at the
entrance and kids playing around a well. He walked into the building and immediately felt a
chill going down his spine. The place was like a building out of a horror film. Dark rooms,
rattling shutters, creaking floorboards and the cold. It was icy yet there was no breeze.
"The effect of Jenova," said Hojo.
Vincent looked up and saw the professer standing on the stairs above him.
"You feel it don't you?" asked Hojo, with a wry smile forming across his face.
"Feel what?"
"A presence."
" A presence of evil, this is what evil is like Valentine, it chills you to the bone," said Hojo
before walking up the stairs.
Vincent shivered. That Hojo guy gave him the creeps. He followed Hojo up the stairs and into
a bedroom he saw him walk into. But there was no sign of the creepy scientist. Vincent walked
around the entire room but he found nothing. Then his eagle eye spotted a crack in the wall
at the corner. He walked over to the corner and hey presto, the wall opened. He ran down the
spiral staircase to meet pro.Ghast. When reached the bottom he noticed the dusty smell wafting
through the air. Bats fluttered in the rafters and once again he shuddered. He also remembered
what Hojo had said, "the effect of Jenova". He reached a large old oaken door. It was ancient,
the wood had turned black with age and the iron studs had flaked away, leaving sunken holes
in the door. He pushed it open and he immediately caught the eyes of Lucrecia. She was standing
at a chart discussing something with prof.Ghast.
"Excuse me sir, I'm Vincent Valentine. I'm hear to provide security for the project," said
Vincent. Prof.Ghast turned around and eyed him up and down.
"You're the guy from the party, yes yes, the Turk. What a funny coincidense. You seemed
so interested in the Jenova project. Or is it my lovely assistant where your interests lie?"
asked Ghast with a smile forming across his face.
"I was genuinely interested in such a ground breaking project," lied Vincent. He then
glanced over to Lucrecia and saw her smile, she obviously knew what Vincent was interested in.
"Hehe, this project is a lot more than merely ground breaking," said Hojo,"it will change the
way we look at the human race." The creepy professer then shuffled over to a large glass tank
full of mako. Inside the bubbly green liquid there was something floating. It was like a
hideously deformed person with no head. Hojo tapped on the glass and the thing moved.
Vincent gasped, the thing was alive!
"Shall we move Jenova to the reactor tonight, as planned professer ?" asked Hojo.
"Yes yes, continue with the plan. I trust you'll be joining us mr.Valentine." said Ghast.
"Well my job is to take care of the project team, so I suppose I will."

* * * * * * * *

"On the way to mt.Nibel Lucrecia filled me in on the details of the project. We were
to create a superior type of being using modern genetic engineering, the power of Mako and
a new type of organism known as Jenova." Vincent shifted on the ground.
"The transportation of Jenova went smoothly as did the project. Lucrecia and I got closer
and closer as the months drew on. After 6 months together we were madly in love. But we had
our problems at times....

"Valentine, what's that noise from upstairs! Go up and check!" barked Hojo as he was put
off by a banging from upstairs. Vincent took his hands from Lucrecia's waist and tottered
out into the tunnel outside the lab. He'd gotten used to it, 6 months in the old mansion.
He jogged up the stone spiral staircase and emerged into the soldiers' bedroom. He walked
across the creaky floorboard and out onto the landing. Looking down he saw the two soldiers
struggling to hold back an angry mob bursting in the door.
"WE DON'T WANT NO BIO EXPERIMENTS IN OUR TOWN!" chanted the people as they forced their
way into the grand hall of the house. Vincent fired a gunshot in the direction of the rabble
to disperse them. They ran screaming from the building fearing for their lives. One man however,
lay there in a puddle of glistening crimson blood. The soldiers checked his body and bowed
their heads. He'd killed someone, but his Turk instincts took over and he felt the death
was necessary to help the project. He strolled casually down the stairway in the main hall
and poked the body with his rifle. He searched the body for any signs of identification,
then he found a trading liscence with the mans picture on it:

Name: Dene Strife
Address: 6 Main Square, Nibleheim.
Occupation: Street trader.
Card no. : 045/666/530

... I'm sorry Cloud," said Vincent sincerely. A tear flickered in Cloud's blue eyes but
they were quickly blinked away. He gritted his teeth anger burning inside his. He drew
Ultima weapon and raised it to strike. Tifa stood in his way.
"Cloud the others felt like this at some time during his story, let him finish it and
then we can decide what to do," said Tifa in a soft soothing voice. Cloud nodded and flopped
to the ground.
"I suppose I better finish the story now....

Chapter 7

"VINCE, Where are you?" called Lucrecia as she ran up the spiral staircase into the
dark and musky Shinra Mansion. It was two months after the shooting incident and they had
covered it up well. They published in the Midgar Press that a mob in Nibleheim opened fire
on Shinra scientists and a gunman was shot when soldiers returned fire. However there was
an anxious look on her face and it had nothing to do with the shooting. She found him
downstairs playing the piano.
"Vince Vince, look look!" she pointed to a plastic rod in her hand with a pale blue
colour at the tip.
"Um, what is it?" he asked sheepishly.
"It's a pregnancy tester, Vince I'm pregnant!" she exclaimed. He went white with shock.
"But but, the plan... you were supposed to get pregnant by Hojo... they were going to..
use the baby... this will ruin their experriment... we'll be in a whole pile of Shit," Vincent
could barely speak.
"What they wont know, wont hurt them," replied Lucrecia.
"I think they'll notice you're pregnant, they're the best Scientists in the world!" blurted
out Vincent.
" Yeah but prof.Ghast decided that the child would be conceived artificially, I already
got the ... erm stuff from Hojo. We can just pretend it's Hojo's child and they'll never know
the difference!" explained Lucrecia.
" Thank god for Ghast, I remember the day he suggested artificial conception. Hojo never
did forgive him, the dirty bastard!" said Vincent as he smiled with relief.
"Who's that you're talking about Valentine?" said Hojo menacingly as he entered the room.
"Erm, no one sir, just the ehhh ...." said Vincent.
"CATS! The tom cat outside it was erm... humping the truck," lied Lucrecia.
Hojo gave them a funny look and strolled out of the room. Lucrecia and Vincent burst out
laughing at the uncomfortable situation they'd gotten themselves in.

9 months later and the baby was near it's birth. Vincent and Lucrecia were preparing
to part with their baby. Lucrecia had been crying to herself all the nights over the past
couple of weeks about having to give it up. Finally she said to Vincent what both of them had
been thinking.
"Vince... we can't give up our baby," she said soothingly.
"You're right, they're not getting their hands on my child," said Vincent cool and
commandingly. He stood up from the bed they'd been sitting on and marched confidently
downstairs into the lab. He stormed through the door and shouted to the two professers
to stop what they'd been doing.
" Shut up Valentine," said Hojo with a sneer. But Vincent was sick of taking shit from
Hojo. He grabbed the lanky proffesser and hoisted him up into the air.
"NO YOU SHUT UP! OR I'LL RIP YOUR NUTS OFF!" roared Vincent as he flung Hojo back against
the wall. Then he turned on Ghast.
"This project is over!" he said angrily.
" Why is that mr.Valentine?" asked Ghast politely.
"Coz I say so!" he responded.
Then from behind him Hojo rose up from the ground and shot Vincent. He blacked out and
Ghast and Hojo went to work on his body...

* * * * * * *

..... that's it my full story. When I woke up I was cursed with this body. Hojo never knew that
he wasn't Sephiroths father even until he died. I do think though, that Ghast knew all
along. Part of the reason Sephiroth couldn't defeat us in the North cave was because he
sensed he was fighting his creator. I understand why you'd want too kill me after all.
It's my fault Aeris is dead, Nanakis father is dead, the people of Gongaga suffer with
the loss of their loved ones. I have brought misery to the world and that is why I have
punished myself all these years. That's why I came with you on your quest to find Sephiroth
.... to soothe my guilty conscience", finished Vincent after telling his story.
"That's not enough, you'll be brought to justice. Shinra justice!", barked the commander
of the soldiers who'd been silent all through the story.
"Normally I'd disagree with them Vincent," said Cloud expressionlessly," but after
your story I hope you rot in hell." The others grunted in agreement.
" Hehe it's execution for murderers like you," said the Commander gleefully.
Vincent staggered to his feet and went peacefully with the soldiers.
" Cloud, Tifa ... all of you. I don't hold it against you for turning me over to them
but please, I know you can't forgive me for what I've done... not even I can, but forgive
my soul and allow me to rest in peace when the time comes," said Vincent with a glimmer
of sadness in his eyes. The soldiers hauled him into the back of a van without any struggle.
Before they shut the door he shouted out to the group.
"BUT IT'S NOT MY TIME YET, I CANNOT DIE I HAVE UNFINISHED BUSINESS!"
The soldiers slammed and locked the doors of the van at the back. They started the engine,
but before they moved the metal roof of the van burst open. It was Vincent flying in the
air using his Chaos limit break.
"I'm going to see my girl," he called before flying away over the purple horizon.
Cloud and the others stood dumbstruck on the ground staring up at the sky...

Epilogue

In the medical centre in the town of Mideel a woman lay in the bed with a baby in her arms.
She had golden blonde hair and beautiful emerald eyes. Beside her, her husband stood staring
adoringly at the woman and the baby. The man had long black hair and wore crimson cape.
"Oh Vincent what should we call her?" asked Lucrecia as she cuddled the newborn child,
something she never got to do with her last child.
"How about Aeris?" tried Vincent.
"Aeris? Where'd you get that one from?" she asked.
"Oh she's a girl I knew... she saved you me and the whole world from certain death...

THE END.

Hello everyone! This is the first fanfic I've written and I originally wrote it for a
Final Fantasy site called Fantasysquare. It was supposed to be in 7 different parts but
I was told to try and have it in one part when posting here if it was under 30 kb in size.
Just my luck it turned out to be 36 kb. If you have anything to say to me about this
fanfic plz email me:
