Derek was pacing back in forth across his living room as he waited for his baby girl to arrive for their usual movie night, he was nervous really nervous tonight and that reason was he had a very important question to ask her. Wellllll it was more like a favor he wanted and needed to ask of his very best friend in the entire world.
His cousin April was getting married in a few weeks and he would need someone to accompany him to the wedding, this person couldn't be just anybody either because he kinda sorta hinted to his mom that he had been dating Penelope. He ran his hand over his head and said, "what if she doesn't want to do this,
what if she gets mad and then when he heard that famaliar knock he couldn't help but smile as he walked across the room and put his hand on the knob.
When Derek opened the door he saw his beautiful best friend standing there with a bag full of snacks for the night, he stepped aside and said, "come in sweetness, come in". She walked by him and headed straight over to the couch stopping long enough in between the door and the couch to toe off her high heels.
She said, "sorry I'm late hotstuff but traffic was a bear tonight", he closed the door and walked over and stood beside the couch and said, "well you're here now and that's the important thing". He headed into the kitchen and said, "what would you like to drink"?, she said, "surprise me", he mumbled to himself as he headed to the kitchen, "ohhhhh you're definitley gonna be surprised baby that's for sure".
A few minutes later he walked back into the room with a couple of beers and a huge bowl of popcorn and sat them on the table in front of Penelope and said,
"what will it be tonight sweetness, comedy, romance, drama, it's ladies choice". She said, "awwwww my prince, you are to good to me", he tapped the end of her nose and said, "anything for you angel".
She said, "how about a comedy and then a romance, would that be alright"?, he smiled down at her and said, "that sounds good to me baby girl", she then stood up and walked over and picked out The Birdcage and The Notebook. She walked over and handed them to Derek and he smiled at her and said, "ahhhh you are spicy tonight baby girl".
She sat down on the couch and said, "nothing like some Robin Williams to make you laugh and then a little romance and hot loving to keep you warm on those cold nights". He laughed and said, "baby it's the middle of summer", she playfully slapped him on the shoulder and said, "that doesn't matter hotstuff it's the thought that counts".
Derek laughed as he got up and headed over to put the comedy in first, after joining his baby girl on the couch he put the bowl of popcorn in his lap and handed her beer to her before taking a gulp of his. He sits back and takes a deep breath and she pushes pause on the control and says, "alright hotstuff out with it".
Derek grins and says, "we can talk about that later sweetness", she puts her hand on his leg and says, "come on honey, please talk to me, I can tell that something is bothering you". He rubs his hand down her cheek and says, "you could always read me like a book couldn't you"?, she throws up her hands and says, "it's a best friend thing I guess, now spill it".
He gets up and walks over to his fireplace and says, "you remember me talking about my cousin April right"?, she nods her head and says, "yeah, she's the one that's getting married isn't she"?, he said, "that's her". She got up and walked over to him and said, "is something wrong with her, is she sick or hurt"?, he smiled and said, "no baby, she's fine".
Penelope siad, "I don't understand honey, what's wrong"?, he said, "if I tell you something will you not get mad at me"?, she said, "what have you done now Derek"?, he laughed and mumbled something that she couldn't understand. Penelope said, "what did you just say"?, he turned to look at her and said,
"I kinda sorta might have told momma that the two of us were dating"?
