A/N: Hello. This is my first time writing fanfiction, so constructive criticism and ideas are apreciated. Also, you guys decide if I continue this story (or not), by reviewing (or not).
If I would have owned Star Wars, things would have gone my way in the first place, so I wouldn't be here trying to fix them with fanfiction.
Prologue: Confession
Anakin stood in the middle of the huge round room, right in the heart of the Jedi Temple, that served as a meeting place for the Council, as well as classroom for the younglings. Around him, sitting comfortably in their chairs and eyeing him expectantly were the Jedi Masters. Instantly, he regretted that the Sith mess brought all of them to Coruscant, as it eliminated the need for holograms. Somehow, he felt more secure around the semitransparent bluish images than around the real people. Then again, if it wasn't for the Sith crisis, he wouldn't need to be there in the first place. So, he took a deep breath and started what threatened to be a long report.
"Today, Chancellor Palpatine invited me to the Theatre." Pause. None of the Masters said anything, but they all looked either interested or curious. "He talked about a Sith Lord, named Darth Plagueis the Wise. He said this Sith learned secret ways of the Force, ways the Jedi fear to pursue." Another pause. Anakin cleared his throat, though there was obviously no need for it. "He spoke of powers beyond imagination, such as healing the wounded and curing the sick and even… even preventing death." By now, most of the older Masters straightened in their seats, while the others were frowning in concern. They all recognized the story. It was told to them in their youngling time, as example of how the Sith thought and acted. "He passed all of his knowledge on to his apprentice, Darth Sidious" began Master Mundi. "Who then killed his Master and took his place". Anakin nodded. "I have reasons to believe that Sidious is not only the puppeteer for the Separatist leaders, but he also has the Republic at his feet, through his position as Chancellor." Frowns grew deeper as the sense of Anakin's words began to sink in. Some stared at him as if he were mad. "You say you have reasons. I'm certain we are all more than eager to hear them." Obi-Wan pressed. Few nodded in agreement. Anakin took a deep breath and launched himself. "When I first met Senator Amidala back on Tatooine, I quickly developed a crush on her. I thought it would fade, but instead it grew stronger and during the time we took refuge in Lake Country on Naboo, the feelings became mutual. After the incident with Dooku and the beginning of the Clone War, we decided that while pursuing our feelings would hurt us both, hiding and denying would do even more harm, so we got married." The faces of the Masters were almost equally divided between disappointment, shock and anger. Anakin remembered he needed to breathe, so while he gulped down the much required air, he thought to himself 'That's it. The worst part has past. Now get it over with.' Before any of the masters could protest, he continued "When I returned from the rescue mission few weeks ago, she told me she is pregnant. Ever since, I keep having these dreams, like the ones about my mother," he looked pointedly at Master Yoda "only this time about Padme. She's dying in childbirth. I voiced my concerns to Chancellor Palpatine, who promptly offered to teach me the hidden knowledge Darth Plagueis possessed." For a second, Anakin felt relieved that he finally admitted his love and that he no longer had to keep it a secret. But then the shadow of the imminent punishment passed over him and he once again started worrying. It took Mace Windu less than a minute to process the information and to politely kick Anakin out, so the Council could discuss.
Nervously, the young Jedi Knight paced in front of the Council Room doors, where his, Padme's and their unborn baby's fate was decided. Minutes passed agonizingly slow, and yet the moment when Obi-Wan stuck his head out the door came too fast. His old friend's face held worry and his tone was obviously full of a fake calm when he said quietly "You may come in now, Anakin. We have reached a decision."
A/N: I know the chapter is rather short, but don't worry, it's just the prologue. Come to the reviewer's side. We have cookies!
