She was the only one he truly smiled at.
Oh sure, he had that famous Hyuuga smirk where all the fan-girls would swoon and squeal. But that wasn't a real smile. That was a mask. A Cover up. She was still the only one he truly smiled at.
He smiled at Hinata. Oh sure, he was her cousin, of course he smiled at her. But that was fake too. He hated her. For being so weak and helpless (although she's anything but these days) and because she was born where he should have been. He smiled at her to keep his family happy. She was still the only one he truly smiled at.
He smiled at Gai. But that was a mask too. Purely a student trying to please his teacher. The same with Lee. But that was because they were obliged to be friends, for her sake and Gai's. His smiles were still only true to her.
His smiles were true to her for many reasons.
Every time she shot a bulls eye, he couldn't help but feel some kind of pleasure for her running through him. Smile.
Every time they sparred or trained. Smile.
Every time she looked at him. Smile.
Every time she asked a stupid question. Smile.
All the time they just spent 'hanging around', doing 'nothing-really'. Smile.
Every time she held his hand, every time their mouths touched, every time she whispered those three words to him. Smile. Smile. Smile.
She was the only he truly smiled at. And every time he smiled at her.. She just couldn't help but smile back.
