(Azula's POV)
Quiet watchful gazes were settled on me as my firebending instructors, Lo and Li, were sat down, hands folded in lap, watching their princess prepare herself with the right emotions, prepare my stance, for the deadly art of lightning. The other form for fire bending, a form of where the great masters of fire can create, control a force of nature and shoot it out of their fingertips and strike the body, forcing the body to die. Unless, of course, if somebody redirected it.
Let's do this, and let's do it right.
Taking a deep breath and letting my chi gather all the energy I could muster in the air, I'm ready. Of course I am! I'm a master. I got this. I got all of this.
My body was ready to not unleash deadly blue fire, but of the cold electric force that shoots out of the sky, during an icy thunderstorm, a storm that will not hold back in its exciting ferocious power.
I move my left arm in a circular motion, with my left middle and index finger pointed perfectly straight, towards my right side, it creating the deadly power that I hold in my 14 year old body. It crackled and sparked with brutal excitement, ready to shoot in the air, or maybe I could strike the captain dead. Ha!
That's so funny. He would never expect it. He'll get the biggest shock on his face as my power strikes his back, and goes to his heart which makes fear pump into his blood upon seeing me.
Circling the lightning around the air, still doing my stance, I bring my lightning holding fingers to face each of the the other, and for the moment of cold excitement, I was darkly excited to strike a bird or two in the air and the lightning crackled again just as excited as I was to strike a bird, and I commanded the lightning with my hands to fill up the air with powerful energy, to go far and high in the air.
There's one right now. A bird flying freely without cares in its mind about dying. Well don't bother. I'll make you scream in pain, I'll break those wings with my lightning, and smoke your body whole.
Striking its whole body, it was small anyway, and the lightning strikes it's heart, burning it so easily, and the bird. Goes. Down!
Sinisterly smirking at my success, of course it's successful, I'm a master firebender, I leave my arm stretched out as smoke is coming out of my fingers.
"Almost perfect"
"One hair out of place"
Widening my eyes in outrage, I ponder their words.
Almost perfect. Almost isn't good enough! Take that word and burn it alive for daring to go with the word perfect!
One hair out of place. Apparently my hair isn't cooperating and decidedly falls out of my topknot, ruining my chance of being perfect as my instructors so sternly have said to me.
Forcing the hair piece out of my face so hard, it almost rips out with the strength my hand used to push it away, back to where it belongs! I am not letting my hair ruin me! God, I sound stupid, but if you laugh, if you chuckle, I will not hesitate to bring you something horrible. Horrible could be a lightning strike through the heart or mind, or a cerulean blue fire whip choking your neck and burning it at the same time with its lethal strength.
"Almost isn't good enough!" I say enraged to myself, and Lo and Li too, if they're listening to me mutter bitterly to myself.
Making sure that no hair is out of place and that I'll be doing something right by repeating the motions again with no distractions or interruptions, I continue on with my lightning bending.
Gathering the energy, my energy once more, I repeat the same motions, the same pointed fingered
stance and shoot it into the quiet filled air, the air now becoming alive with cruel electricity.
