The scent of rain turned Edward's head to the sky. Lightning streaked the black sky lighting the buildings and shadows with a flash followed by a thunderous boom. He would hide forever if he had the choice. Shou Tucker had gone to far this time. Transmutating Alexander and Nina, and all too soon, things spun out of control.
Oh Nina is with her grandparents for the week.
Alexander was taken to the vet.
This week Nina came down with the flu and is at the hospital, and I can't concentrate with Alexander so he is at the kennel.
Nina is better today, but she is still with her grandparents at the hospital.
Lies lies lies! Blasted lies! They littered his thoughts and the man's cursed tongue kept speaking those horrid lies! He didn't see the talking chimera until weeks after it was too late. Shou Tucker was still a State Alchemist, and Alexander and Nina were still gone.
Nina is back but it is best to leave her and Alexander be. They are resting.
Him and his brother went back to studying. Then came the next day when Al mysteriously disappeared.
What happened to Alphonse? Oh dear what a shame. He ran away you say? I thought I saw him in Nina's room a while ago. Yes, he was checking on her. What's that you say? You wish to see her too? Well I don't want you to get the illness.
In truth, that's when he figured out Shou Tucker's madness, the mad man. But even then it was to late to do anything. For the day, he stayed in the library waiting for Al to return, but he never did. He thought nothing of it and how peculiar it was that Al would leave without letting him know. But Shou Tucker was a good man right?
Then it came time to leave. He went to Nina's room to find no one. Looking out the window, they weren't outside either. Alexander wasn't tackling him so... that could only mean...!
He didn't hear the draw of the sword. But he felt the pressure of his automail being chopped of, and he heard the clunk as the metal hit the ground. Left arm now missing, he spun in shock to see Shou Tucker holding the long sharpened steel with a stern look.
You shouldn't have come in here. You are foolish and now you know my secret. I must kill the witnesses. It was truly nice meeting you Edward but I am afraid you and your brother wore out your welcome.
A crash. A terrible sight took place as Al's head bounced to his sibling's feet. Alphonse... Al! He was... murdered by...
I am sorry Edward. But I must keep my title. Goodbye Edward.
He barely missed the sword's sharp bite, and he leaped for the window wincing as the small glass particles made shallow cuts causing sharp stings.
You can't run forever...
No, but he could try. He ran and heard the pur of a car starting. He ran faster. Shou Tucker was chasing him. He turned, he jumped, he hid, and he waited. He had to tell Mustang of the situation, he had to stop this man. It made sense now.
Alexander and Nina made the talking chimera letting Shou Tucker keep his license. Alphonse found the being and Shou Tucker couldn't have that, so he killed Al.
Now, it was Edward's turn to die.
He sat and did nothing but cry as the rain poured from above. The water washing away his tears for his brother and the girl. In the dark alley, he saw the headlight of a car and looked up as none other than Hawkeye stepped out. Her face softened as she laid eyes on the boy. Taking off her coat she walked over to the boy and rested the dry fabric on the child's shoulders.
"We saw it all. I'm sorry Edward."
