Chapter 1. Max POV

I woke up to the harsh ring of my iphone on my bedside table. I groaned squinting my eyes in the sunlight. I grabbed my phone and swiped through the lock screen and read the text message from one of her friends Nudge, 'Hey, are we still on for 2 at the coffee shop tomorrow? Angel is coming' I tapped yes and sent it before looking at the time, 9 a.m. Still got time to sleep in, but I need to get some shopping done I thought annoyed. I got out of my warm, comfortable bed and into the cold harsh air of the coming autumn. I got dressed into my pale skinny jeans and green t-shirt, slipped on my blue vans grabbing a pre-made sandwich out of the fridge and went out into the streets of New York.

After a few hours I was walking down the street shopping bags in hand and checked the time, 7:30 p.m. I sighed, didn't get much done today I thought. Then a shop caught my eye, a petshop. Usually I wasn't interested in getting a pet since I could hardly keep a goldfish alive, much less a cat or dog, but something was drawing me to this shop that I couldn't really explain. Before I consciously knew what was happening I found myself walking into the shop. I looked around at the lobby with the girl with red hair Bridget her nametag read, "Welcome! Would you like to look at the animals or buy supplies?" She asked me in her too-perky attitude. "I'm just looking at animals," I replied. "In the hallway to your right!" She said pointing to the glass door. I walked through and for some strange reason, went to where they held the cats.

I wandered down the rows of plastic prison cells with each holding a cat, calico's, tabby's, and many other breeds looking at me curiously from their cells. I stopped on one row and looked right across to my left in one cell that was at shoulder level was a cat that was completely black looking at me with piercing red eyes. I looked at his information on the side of his cage and read it, 'Sex: Male, Age: estimated 3 years, Breed: unknown' and so on. "Would you like to interact with him?" A voice jumped me out of loner land, andI turned to see a red-head named Lissa looking at me. What is it with red-heads in this place? I don't have anything against them but seriously, does the manager have a fetish or something! "Uh sure," I replied uncertainly. She grabbed my hand and led me to a room with a chair and a table full of cat toys. I sat in the chair while she left and came back a few minutes with the cat in her arms looking a little pissed off.

Lissa set him down and he hissed slightly at her. "You have ten minutes" She said before closing the door. I looked at the cat to find him looking at me a little distrustfully. "I won't baby talk and try to cuddle you if you don't scratch and bite me. Deal?" I asked him looking in his eyes. He looked a little shocked, as if the fact that someone had talked to him like a normal human being was an entirely new concept to him. "Your information didn't give you a name, you can't just go about being nameless can you? You definitely need a name." I said nodding to myself. The cat was looked like he was over being shocked and walked up to my leg rubbing his head against my calf. I tentatively reached down and scratched behind his ears. He started purring and jumped up onto my lap, his head nuzzling into my neck. I stroked down his back and his tail. His paws rested on just below my collarbone as his eyes stared into mine and for a second I could almost swear he was human. He settled down into my lap, head curling into my stomach. Suddenly he jumped as the door slammed open, his claws digging into my thigh. Lissa stood there looking a little irritated, "Your ten minutes are up." She said annoyed. I gently lifted the cat off my lap and he looked at me as if pleading to be taken with me. I bit my lip considering my options. "I'll take him!" I blurted out.

Lissa looked at me incredulously, as if he was her cat. "Fine, go to the lobby and fill out the forms for buying him," She told me curtly. I looked at the cat to see him purring and rubbing against my leg. That seemed to infuriate Lissa even more and I walked out before I could finish watching her reaction. I walked into the lobby to fill out the forms that Bridget handed me with her overly cheery expression. I was done in a few minutes and had handed them to Bridget right as Lissa walked out with the cat in a travel cage. I need to get him a name, but nothing really fits that I can think of. I took the cage and walked back to my apartment that was high up being on the 16th floor of the 20 story building. I knew the complex was ok with people having animals since a few of my neighbors had cats and dogs.

I opened the door and let him out of his cage, and went and lied down on the sofa. But instead of exploring like a cat normally would do he came and sat on my lap. "Charlie?" I wondered. He looked at me like I was crazy. "George? Alex? Nick?" I asked him, but none of them seemed to please him and he started ignoring me. and he let out a long yawn showing off gleaming white fangs. I suddenly got a great name, "Fang, stop ignoring me." His head lifted up after I said that and he seemed to consider it before meowing and cuddled into my chest. Normally I would mind but he's a cat so it doesn't matter. I checked the time, 9:30. I can go buy him his stuff tomorrow….. And I fell asleep.

So how did I do for the first chapter of this story? I'm planning this to be a Fax story, and maybe a few limes in way later chapters, and I HIGHLY doubt there will be a lemon. So sorry to those out there, but not sorry. And next chapter: a date with Dylan and jealousy! What will happen in the coffee shop? I have got the plot line planned out and I have the very, very low possibility of a sequel in sight. So, until next time, bye!
