Time flows like a river, swiftly and surely in one direction; from cause to effect. However, each decision we make creates a fork in this river, resulting in an infinite number of timelines with infinite possibilities. In one such timeline, a man named Jonathan Joestar falls victim to a stone mask, dying alongside his adoptive brother in the inferno that consumes the manor they both called home. In another, a priest nearly succeeds in his plan to force mankind to accept their lot as slaves to Fate, only to be foiled by the interference of a brave little boy. In yet another timeline, a boy detective goes to space and meets 36 versions of the Ultimate Lifeform, each one from a different universe. No one's entirely sure how that one came to be.
Instead, let us turn our gaze to a timeline where a certain man's plans were foiled by the presence of one blessed by the Golden Wind. Things have been peaceful for a time, but life in a certain college will soon take a turn for the⦠bizarre.
New York City is home to several institutions of higher learning, with one of the most prominent being Speedwagon University. Founded by the famous oil tycoon, Robert E.O. Speedwagon during the 1920's and renamed in his honor after his death, this private college was his way of honoring a close friend by providing the young people of the city with the opportunities he never had. Because of this noble desire, Speedwagon wrote the school's bylaws himself, specifically stating that they would accept students from all walks of life; regardless of race, religion or gender. As long as they strove to improve themselves, all would be welcome. To help with this quest, the university offers many generous scholarships; each one made possible by contributions from not only donors, but the Speedwagon Foundation itself.
However, this school had recently become quite the hotbed for the Foundation's research into the supernatural; thanks to a series of meteor impacts from five years ago. Currently, not much is known about these mysterious space rocks; but testing has revealed that their metallurgic composition is nearly identical to one recovered from Cape York, Greenland back in 1978.
But, none of this really mattered a young woman of Chinese, Japanese and English descent, heading back to her dorm from her last class of the day. Her name was Jiu Jiuxi, but she chose Josie as her English name, and her friends called her Jojo. At eighteen years old, she's a sophomore at Speedwagon University, and a biology major. Little does she know, as she goes through the motions of the fall semester, that this year will be one that she'll never forget.
And it would all start with a morning jog.
