A/N-This is an idea that came into my head after 11x11. I'm not happy with them losing their baby and I need something to happen with Jackson and April to make me fall in love with them again, something kind of like this. I hope this brings a little happy to the Japril fandom. Also I don't own All Of Me by John Legend, obviously. Please leave reviews! 3

April woke to sun streaming into the window and Jackson's side of the bed vacant. This had become a regular occurrence. April had grown accustomed to waking up alone. It had been 4 weeks since they lost their son and she still wasn't ready to go back to work. Conversely, Jackson was up and gone early each morning with meetings and surgeries.

She hadn't left the apartment since they buried him. It was a grey, gloomy day and it was just the two of them and the minister that baptized him. The grave marker read:

Samuel Norbert Avery

~ 2015 ~

Forever our Angel

They laid him to rest near so many dear friends. In one corner Charles and Reed were buried not far from each other. On the other side was Lexie's grave, and Mark's right next to her.

This morning, she noticed something on Jackson's pillow: an envelope with her name written on it in Jackson's scrawl and a rose. She smelled the rose, enjoying its sweetness. Then she opened the envelope. She pulled out the single page letter and read it slowly:

Good Morning Beautiful,

I could watch you sleep for the rest of my life. I had some early meetings but I'll be back around noon. I know you've wanted space and to be alone, and I've tried my best to give that to you. I think it's time for you to get out of the apartment. Let's get away this weekend. No work. No meetings. No nosy mothers. Just you and me. I have two plane tickets, but I'm not gonna say where, it's a surprise. If you're ready for it, just pack a bag and I'll be home in a few hours and we can go. I want to take you some place special. Also there is present for you on the chair, bur don't open it yet. Just pack it in your bag. I'll see you soon, Babe.

I Love You,

Jackson

April couldn't stop herself from smiling. It was the first time since she felt like she had something to look forward to since she'd been grieving. Maybe this was just what she needed. She checked the clock and realized it was already 10:00am. She had just two hours to pull herself together and pack. She need to shower, get dressed, and figure out how to pack without knowing where she was going. She set to work as she waited for Jackson to come home.

"Honey, I'm home," Jackson called as he walked in the apartment just before noon. He didn't get a response so he wasn't sure he was ready for this. He walked to the bedroom expecting to see her still in bed. Instead she was sitting at her vanity running her fingers through her red waves. "Wow…"

"Hey, Jackson, I'm just about ready to go," April greeted, seeming much more alive than she had in weeks, "but you do realize packing is impossible when I have no idea where you're taking me!" April walked over to Jackson and kissed him. Just that one kiss, after so long, turned him on so much.

"I know. Just trust me," Jackson replied taking her in his arms, "I'm taking you to one of my favorite places. I'm taking you to the place where I fell in love with you."

"And where is that?" April asked curiously.

"You'll see!" Jackson teased, "Come on, our flight is leaving soon." Jackson took her bag in one hand and her hand with his other and led her out the door and down to the car.

They walk through the airport from the check in to their gate.

"This is where we are going," Jackson pointed to the sign at their gate which read SAN FRANCISCO.

"Really?" April asked, "So you fell in love with me way back in San Francisco?"

"Yeah, I did," Jackson answered, his gaze locked on her, "That moment you kissed me in the hallway changed everything…" Jackson was cut off by the announcement that their flight was boarding.

When they arrived in San Francisco, they went to their hotel to freshen up for dinner,

"So when can I open that present you had me pack?" April asked as she opened her suitcase on the bed.

"Now is perfect, actually. Go ahead," Jackson replied as she removed the bow and opened the box. She lifted the lid to reveal a sleeveless black cocktail dress, "What do you think?"

"Jackson, it's beautiful!" April said holding it up in front of her.

"Go ahead, try it on!" Jackson encouraged her. Without hesitation she pulled off her blouse and removed her jeans. He couldn't take his eyes off of her briefly standing there in just her bra and panties. He didn't want to stare but he hadn't seen her this way in more than a month and he missed it.

"Can you zip me up?" April asked, snapping him back from his thoughts.

"Of course," Jackson breathed, in aww of how beautiful she looked in it. She lifted her red waves as he stood behind her, and pulled the zipper up to her shoulders. He was engulfed in the moment and lightly kissed her neck. She closed her eyes, allowing herself to enjoy his touch, leaning back into him. He wrapped her in his arms and just took in her smell.

"I've missed this," April whispered softly.

"Me too," Jackson agreed, "But it's a shame to waste this dress on me. I have dinner reservations for us at the nicest restaurant in the city and I need to change. We don't want to be late."

"Jackson you don't need to do all this," April countered, "I don't need fancy things or fancy meals."

"I know, but I never got to do this before you. We never did the dating thing. I just want to make up for lost time. Plus I know you like good old fashioned romance," Jackson replied, referring to something she once said.

"This is more than I could have ever dreamed of," April blushed at his reference, "And I don't just mean this weekend. You are more than I could have ever dreamed."

"So are you," Jackson replied, brushing her hair out of her face, kissing her lightly, "but I really do need to get ready for dinner."

Jackson quickly changed as April freshened up. Together they made it out the door just in time to make their reservations.

When they got there, Jackson offered her his arm as they walked into the restaurant.

"Are you sure this is the right place?" April asked him noting the place seemed deserted, except for a few busboys and the hostess.

"Oh this is it," Jackson said with a sly smile. The walked up to the hostess' station and she showed them to their table. It was the only one set in the whole restaurant. The room was filled with candles and the musicians played softly in the background.

"Jackson what's going on?" April asked, confused, as Jackson pulled out her chair and she sat down, "Why is no one else here?"

"Cause I sort of bought the whole place for us tonight…" Jackson answered, bashfully, "I wasn't sure you'd be ready for a crowded restaurant yet."

"Jackson this is so sweet of you, you didn't have to go to all this trouble," April replied in awe of the gesture.

"I know, but I wanted to make this really special for you," Jackson responded, leaning close to her.

"So what's on the menu?" April asked eagerly, meeting him halfway.

"Anything you want," Jackson smiled, kissing her, "I just want make you happy."

"You do that every day," April reassured him, kissing him back.

After a special meal were they talked about so many things that they had talked about in a long time. They both needed this and loved spending the special time together.

"Would you dance with me?" April asked after a moment, hesitantly, knowing it wasn't his favorite.

"I'd love to," Jackson answered, offering his hand to her.

"Thank you," April whispered, taking his hand and following him to the dance floor.

Jackson gave a look to the band leader, and they began playing a familiar song.

"Oh Jackson, I love this song!" April exclaimed, trying to hold back her emotions. Jackson took her in his arms, as she leaned into his chest. As one they glided slowly on the dance floor as they listened to the lyrics of the song.

As the song reached its chorus, Jackson softly sang along in her ear, "All of me loves all of you,
love your curves and all your edges, all your perfect imperfections. Give your all to me; I'll give my all to you. You're my end and my beginning, even when I lose I'm winning. Cause I give you all of me, and you give me all of you…"

"I love you, Jackson," April whispered, looking up at him.

"I love you, too," Jackson replied, as April wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him passionately, as they swayed to the rest of the song. They stayed that way long after the song was over.

After a moment, April pulled back. "I'm getting a little tired. Can we go back to the room?"

"Of course," Jackson obliged, leaving a tip on the table, and his hand finding hers as they walked out of the restaurant.

April was quiet the whole ride and all the way back to their hotel room.

"What are you thinking about?" Jackson asked as he undid his tie and took off his jacket.

"I don't know," April shrugged, trying not to cry, "Tonight was just so wonderful but I just can't help but think about what we have to go home to tomorrow. To our empty apartment and the empty crib that we still need to put away…" April trailed off as she collapsed on the bed, sobbing.

Jackson walked over to her and took in his arms and he stood there rocking her until her sobs quieted down. After standing there for what felt like an eternity, April pulled back from his embrace and Jackson wiped the tears from her cheeks with his thumbs.

April reached up and kissed him, but this time she didn't stop herself. She kissed him with a passion she hadn't kissed him with in a while. She grabbed for his shirt and undid the remaining buttons. Startled by this, Jackson grabbed her hands.

"April…slow down," Jackson stopped her, "Are you sure want to do this. We can wait until you're ready. I can wait."

"Jackson, I'm sure," April whispered, as Jackson allowed her to pull his shirt off. She undid his buckle as he unzipped her dress. Within moments they were down to their underwear kissing passionately, their clothes and shoes strewn all over the floor.

April leaned against the bed as Jackson's kiss sent a rush through her that she felt all through her body. A feeling she didn't realize how much she missed. They climbed on to the bed as they removed their remaining garments.

They made love in every sense the word. Tangled beneath the sheets, every bit of them touched. They lost a piece of themselves when their son was taken from them. This loss left a hole behind they hadn't been able to fill until now. Until this night where they loved each other so fiercely that they completed each other.
