The lands we have called home for countless seasons were thought to be safe from human interference. That no human would ever be foolish enough to tread the sealed grounds in which we walk.
We were certain humans knew the reason why our lands were forbidden to trespass on, that fear would keep them at bay so none would fall victim to the consequences of false promises of the Disembodied One.
Ever since the sealing, no human has been seen disturbing the quiet harmony of the lonely lands. The ancient civilization that once shared our home, long gone without leaving any trace aside from old stone structures that have since been overtaken by nature's natural course, as one would expect. Even so, some places still bear evidence that the lands were once inhabited by other beings alongside us.
We can only assume they took refuge elsewhere, and their descendants continue to exist, for we won't ever know unless they return.
However, as long as Their presence still lingers in the Shrine, no human will dare venture here- so long as they're aware of the Disembodied One's ever-present existence, sealed here or not.
Should the sixteen of us ever fall, They will rise again anew.
We, the Colossi, are the ones who keep Dormin from being resurrected. So long as we continue to draw breath, the Disembodied One will never return to power.
Any human knowing better wouldn't attempt to slay us, and even if they did not, surely our appearances would do enough to frighten them.
Would any human even try such a thing ? Perhaps if the Disembodied One was clever enough to trick them, yes, but we know that even humans wouldn't listen to Their lies.
He who shattered Dormin's body into the sixteen fragments and sealed them within our bodies gave us his word. We would remain undisturbed, unharmed, perhaps even unknown to future generations.
That would be the least concerning, so long as mankind was aware of Their history, we would be safe to protect the lands for many seasons to come and go.
What we didn't realize, was that some day the teachings of the Sealer would soon fade to his people over time, and soon enough a wanderer unaware would one day be faced with enough desperation that would drive him directly to seeking Their aid.
Of course, we would have no knowledge of what was yet to befall us until harm came to one of us.
Until then, we could only wait in ignorance until the first attack was initiated.
