Set after Divergent the movie and the book, based a little more on the movie than the book though.

Yay! My muse came back and she decided to take me to the Divergent fandom. I guess I was a bit unsatisfied with having only one of them declaring her or his love and my mind came up with that idea. I am satisfied with how it turned out, especially since it's been quite a while since I last wrote anything.

Disclaimer: I own nothing.

Her head rests on top of his heart. Throb after throb, she relishes the feeling that he is here, with her, alive. It's comforting, but as much as she appreciates his closeness and the security feeling she gets from it, she cannot rest. Not after today.

She closes her eyes again and images come crashing one after the other. Eric holding a gun to Tobias' head, her mom and dad lying lifeless on the cold and dirty grounds, she remembers Will's eyes when she pressed the trigger. Burdens she realizes she will have to bear for the rest of her life. There are also all the questions which remained unanswered yet. What happened to Christina after they crashed the simulation? What happened to Jeanine? Will she try to put her plan into action again?

Then, there is that small detail that keeps nagging at the back of her head. Three little words she whispered for the first time ever today. She doesn't regret them but a part of her can't help but feel nervous about it. She knows how she feels about him there is no doubt about that now, but looking at their current situation, what kind of future can they expect?

So no, right now she cannot rest, her mind just refuses to let her.

She untangles herself slowly, afraid of waking him. She stands up from her side of the bed and takes one piece of clothing they were provided with when they reached Amity and makes her way to the door.

Turns out, he wasn't as asleep as she thought.

'Tris?' his heavy voice interrupts her retreat.

'Where are you going?'

'I… hum… thirsty. I'm going to get some water' she says in a hushed tone.

'Okay. Do you want me to come with you?' he asks already starting to move to get out of bed.

She shakes her head no before replying 'Go back to sleep, I'll come back quickly'.

His head hits the pillow and she hears a growl she assumes was a mumbled version of okay before exiting the small cabin.

She wanders around for a few minutes, taking the time to really look at the Amity compound. The Amity cafeteria is centrally placed in the middle of it so it doesn't take too long to reach it. Small cabins, similar to the one they use, are scattered on the way. She can see some of them are lit with a soft light, probably candles. She wonders if the people inside have any idea of what happened today. If the people laugh or sing naively thinking that their world is still the same as it was yesterday. She feels kind of envious of them if they do to be honest.

She makes her way to the cafeteria pretty quickly and takes a bottle of water from the shelf. She scans the few people currently sitting at the tables before making her way out.

The air is nice. Some people are gathered around a fire and are effectively singing. Against all odds, she smiles at the sight and for a few seconds she forgets. Why she is there and what happened today. During that heavenly moment, she can actually believe she is there under nice circumstances like a vacation or a field trip.

She is about to turn around and walk back to the cabin when somebody calls her name.

'Beatrice?'

'Robert?'

The boy nods, a shy grin on his face.

He quickly takes a few steps towards her and hugs her for what seems an eternity. Her abnegation education is still there she can't deny it and since there was certainly no cuddling time during Dauntless training…

When they break apart, he still grins.

'It's so good to see you Beatrice. How are you doing?'

'I … hum… well, I'm fine' she lies. She doesn't want to tamper the mood. These people right here will learn soon enough that their world changed. If she can't help that, the least she can do is let them have one last night of blissful ignorance.

He frowns at her answer and gently pulls her away from the rest of the group, his expression more serious now.

'I saw Caleb earlier. He … hum … he told me…'

All she feels, she can see it all in his eyes, sadness, sorrow and something else … hope maybe.

He clears his throat and the grin is back on his face.

'Caleb, … he … hum…. He also told me you found someone … you know like a significant other?'

She is shocked for a moment. Was her brother really gossiping about her love life?

She finds herself embarrassed for a moment. Her eyes going the ground, fixing some stones she kicks with her right shoe. But she can't stop the smile to appear on her face, just as she cannot help her heart to pick up its' speed right now. She slowly brings her head up and when she does, she doesn't wipe the smile of her face, she doesn't even try.

'Yes, yes, I did' she nods very enthusiastic.

It's just been a few minutes now. He is tired and he definitely needs the sleep but there is something in the back of his mind. A nagging feeling that tells him he cannot do any of these things until she is back, right here, safely in his arms.

He sighs wearily and gets up. Quickly takes a sweater and throw it on before exiting the small cabin.

He walks only for a few minutes only before he sees her. She is beautiful as ever. Standing nearby a fire gives her some kind of glow. He watches her kicking something with her shoe and even if he stands from a good distance, he just knows that there must be a blush on her face right now.

That's when he frowns and that's when his brain actually registers that she isn't alone. She stands in front of another man. He is tall, taller than her and his face adorns a soft smile directed straight at her.

That moment is when he feels it. Jealousy. He watches her and him, whatever his name is and he swears he feels his blood starting to boil.

'Well, I should let you get going. I'm sure you're tired' he says.

Tris nods.

'Hum … Maybe we could hang out soon? I mean, I would love to know the guy who stole your heart and I'd like to introduce you to my significant other, if you're up for it…'

Her eyes go wide. Robert and she would have probably been destined for each other if they had stayed in Abnegation. And she did find love in her new faction so she shouldn't be surprised other people did as well.

'I'd love that' she replies and this time when the hug comes, she meets him halfway and doesn't stiffen as much.

His eyes go wide as he watches her literally being engulfed into the other guy's arms. He stays there, watching before his mind finally process what he sees and he turns around, making his way back to the room they share. His blood definitely boils and boy does he wish he was at Dauntless right now so he could find something to punch until he feels better.

They disconnect and something catches the corner of her eyes. A dark silhouette just turned away and she watches its retreat until she spots the familiar tattoo on the silhouette's neck.

She calls for him. Softly at first, calling his nickname. Then her voice raises a bit thinking maybe he didn't hear that's why he hadn't stopped yet. But when she sees him actually going faster, she notices his rigid posture, she knows something isn't right.

When she reaches the cabin's door, she pants. She takes a second to breathe and quietly opens the door.

His back is turned to her, all his muscles are taut and since he doesn't wear a shirt anymore his back is now fully exposed. Just like the first time she saw it, she can't help to stare at it and craves to touch it. She wants to glide her fingers over the ink and see his skin shudder under the contact.

She approaches him slowly and starts to brush her fingers on him. She can hear his breathing hitch and she can tell he is as affected by her touch than she is.

'Are you okay?' she gently asks.

And just like that, his anger is gone. Just by hearing the soft loving tone of her voice and feeling the brush of her fingertips on him.

He turns and watches her intently.

He shakes his head no, frowning.

'What happened? 'she probes.

He continues to stare for a few seconds, still trying to make sense of what just happened to him. But this is Tris in front of him and if there is one thing he is sure of is that, since she came into his life, she brings out the best in him. He was never one to think he would find that person who's supposed to make you whole. But right now, as his eyes are locked into hers and he can feel his heart beating faster, he is convinced he was wrong, so wrong.

He swallows, clearly uncomfortable.

'I saw you with that guy …' he offers '… near the fire. I saw you smile and laugh with him, and I saw you two hug and I realized then that I didn't want any of these things to ever happen again with anybody else but me. I was jealous Tris.' He says softly, his head cocked to one side and a soft grin on his figure.

'Oh' is all the answer she can offer.

'You know…' he quickly adds taking a step towards her '… I never properly thanked you for what you did today. What you said … it's what pulled me out of the simulation'.

He stands right in her space now, his face merely a few millimeters away from hers. She can feel his breath on her and she can't say she doesn't love the proximity.

She swallows, her mind is racing and thousands of butterflies are going crazy in her belly when he speaks again, lips suspended halfway to hers.

'I love you too Tris. I am sorry for not saying it sooner and not showing you enough how important you are to me'. He closes the distance, peppering her jaw, her nose, her cheeks and finally aiming straight for her lips.

The kiss is everything they feel, everything they want. It's a reminder of what they left behind, everyone they lost and it's a hopeful promise for what's to come.

He then engulfs her into his arms whispering again how much he loves her into her ears and other soothing words as she begins to cry.

None of them knows what will come next, but in that moment, safely tucked in each other embrace, none of that matters.
