The seaplane cruised through the midday sky, on approach to Unova. Flocks of Wingull occupied patches of the air around it. Below a pair of Wailord danced through the water. Why all this Pokemon activity? The plane was near shore.
Sitting in by a window, Aaron looked out over the ocean. He noticed a Mantine swimming through the water. "Come to think of it," He thought, "I don't think I have the Mantyke line registered in my Pokedex yet. Well, there's another thing to add to my list."
A few minutes later the plane landed, and after ten more minutes Aaron walked onto the dock of Undella town with his backpack. As soon as he was off the seaplane he swung his bag of his shoulder and opened it. His Pokemon had spent the ride in their Pokeballs for once; Aaron trying to save a bit of money on air fare. Taking out the Pokeballs inside one by one, he released each of his Pokemon onto the pier.
First came Luxray, then Glaceon. Glaceon sniffed around for a moment before he was mesmerized by a group of twinkling Staryu on the bay's floor. Luxray walked over to Aaron and looked around. For once, he was smiling.
Next was Emolga. "Emol!" The Unova native was happy to be back again. Immediately he glided up to sit on the overhanging plane wing. "Eem!"
Aaron laughed and picked up the next Pokeball. He pressed the button and this time a Gardevoir appeared. "I see we've arrived?" She said telepathically to Aaron. She was smiling.
"That would be correct. Hang on a moment," Aaron responded, throwing out another ball. A shiny Pichu appeared. "Chu! Pichu!" The little mouse ran around the dock, first to Glaceon, then to the plane, then to Gardevoir. This was a Great Ball, with gold stripes and a black top. For some reason this Pokeball also had a few dents on it. He released the Pokemon inside. This Pokemon was his Meloetta, Airalin.
"Welcome everyone to the Undella Town, and the Unova Region!" Aaron cried. "Or for a couple of you, I should say welcome back!"
Airalin flew up to sit on Ash's shoulder. "It's just as pretty as I remember it. Let's go!"
Aaron checked his watch. 12:47. "Sounds good. Anyone for lunch?"
And so the entourage walked towards the town. It was an interesting sight to be sure. Emolga and Glaceon darted up ahead, exploring the pier just as they had when Aaron had first come. Luxray and Gardevoir walked alongside Aaron, Pichu in Gardevoir's arms. Airalin still perched on Aaron's shoulder.
For a minute not a lot of people paid any mind to the trainer. But as he approached Undella Town's square, some glanced at the passing group. Those that did immediately did a double take. Was that a Meloetta on that guy's shoulder? And a shiny Pichu?
"Um, Aaron?" Gardevoir asked.
"Yeah?"
"I think people are noticing that we have a Legendary and a Shiny Pokemon with us."
Aaron paused. "I didn't think of that. Back in Sandgem nearly everyone is used to us, but Pichu's never been here. Airalin's hardly ever visited, and that was a couple years ago."
"It's fine Aaron," Airalin spoke up. "I'd like to see what kind of reaction we get!"
At the sound of the Meloetta speaking Aaron saw a couple people's mouths drop open. He chuckled. "Okay then, everyone act natural." This made all of Aaron's Pokemon laugh.
One Pokemart, one pizza place and one brief encounter with an Officer Jenny later, Aaron sat down at a large picnic table on the beach. He set down the three pizza boxes he was carrying. Likewise, Gardevoir set down the water battles she had, and Emolga landed with the bag of rawst berries Aaron bought from the Pokemart.
"Alright everybody, let's eat!"
While Aaron and his Pokemon immediately started in, Airalin looked around for a moment. She was floating in the air just above her seat. A number of the spring tourists were staring at her, one or two holding a camera or telephone. In Sinnoh, Aaron's Meloetta was well known, but in the Unova region she became a startling surprise. As soon as Airalin's gaze connected with another the stranger would immediately look somewhere else. Smiling and shaking her head, she hovered down to join the others in eating.
"Looks like you're getting a lot of attention," Gardevoir said to the Pokemon.
Airalin sent back, "It's kind of funny. It's like they're afraid of me for some reason!"
A few minutes later Gardevoir spoke to Aaron."Well, someone's gotten their nerves about them. Aaron, look!"
Aaron turned around. A boy of about thirteen was approaching them. He paused for half a second when Aaron looked at him, but continued on. "Excuse me?" He asked upon arrival.
"Hello, what' s up?" Aaron responded.
"My name is TJ. I was wondering if you'd like to battle?"
Aaron checked the table. Almost everyone was done eating, and he could see his smaller Pokemon perking up at the prospect of a battle. Turning back to the challenger, he said, "Sure! How many Pokemon to a team?"
"How about..four." TJ decided.
Aaron looked at his team. Emolga and Glaceon stood on the table with an all-too-eager look on their faces. Gardevoir, Meloetta, and Luxray were all smiling, Gardevoir and Luxray calmly and Meloetta with a cheerful disposition. Pichu, the baby of the group, was sitting on the table with a curious look.
"Alright. Luxray, you'll start. Emolga, Glaceon, Gardevoir, get ready!"
"Lux." Luxray paced over to Aaron, set to battle.
"Let's go over there; the beach is clear," TJ suggested, pointing to an area a little ways away.
Aaron cleaned up the table and the two trainers walked to the designated location. As they walked Aaron introduced himself.
"My name's Aaron Truman. I'm the electric and ice gym leader of Sandgem city, in the Sinnoh region." He then proceeded to name and describe each of his Pokemon, with TJ nodding and listening. Save for Emolga, the Pokemon of Aaron's team were completely new to him. Finally the two reached the empty stretch of beach. Standing several feet apart, Aaron called, "Let's begin, shall we?"
Right. Pressed for time, I'm going to have to tell you that chapter is supposed to be a battle. Right now that's under construction, but I don't want to put my effort into it yet with everything else I want to upload. So. Continue on like this battle already concluded.
