Once upon a time, there was a vast landscape, known to it's inhabitants simply as Terraria. Life was peaceful, apart from the giant slimes, the Corruption, Crimson, Hallowed, and such.
However, one day, a giant dragon attacked. His name was Tizona. He feasted upon the strongest of Terrarians, absorbing their life force, and their mana. With each sacrifice, another legend is lost.
But with every great villain, comes an even greater hero. Who was this hero? Or rather, who were they? Easy. It was Cthulhu and his brother, Lunaris. Taking on the physical form of Terrarians, with Cthulhu wielding the Terra-Blade, and his slightly-less-serious-brother wielding Meowmere. They fought for days, but they emerged victorious, sealing away Tizona into the form of a sword. Only Cthulhu's blood could unseal it's true power.
Grateful, they accepted the eldritch being as their king, with Lunaris as the prince. It was back to peace and quiet, even more so than before, since Cthulhu managed to contain the Crimson and the Corruption with his vast magic.
That is, until, the beings from above struck down. They came down in waves of saucer after saucer, lasers and electricity flew everywhere as Cthulhu lead his people to the front lines of the war. They all fought with all their might. But it wasn't quite enough.
The war ended when they, the Martians, had kidnapped Lunaris, and fatally wounded King Cthulhu during a failed rescue attempt. The medics did everything they could, but it was all for naught. As he took his final breath, the Corruption and the Crimson all flooded back into the lands.
At the funeral, however, a new era began.
The body glowed white, and then split up into three adult men.
They would be the three kings of the three kingdoms, as direct descendents of Cthulhu, with the ability to channel his power. Completely immortal, only able to die of old age.
King Hallowsten's Hallowed Kingdom would become the wealthiest and the most refined, although deep down, the instincts for adventure still thrived. They represented the mystical power of Magic.
King Crimsos' Crimsonian Kingdom would become the most barbaric, while still maintaining a rather high moral standing. They represented the raw power of Might.
King Corrosten's Corruptionian Kingdom would become an epicenter of science. They could be considered TOO optimistic, really, as a common saying goes, "Any idea is a good idea until proven otherwise." They represented the calculatory power of the Mind.
Together, they ruled peacefully as brothers. Every 1500 years, a new king would be chosen as the next to rule as the previous dies peacefully, from one of their children. Those who become the king get to live out those full 1500 years. However, those who didn't, fate wasn't so harsh. Upon marriage, the other children would get to live around 250 years.
This leaves only one question, though.
How long will Terraria remain relatively peaceful?
For all we know, the martians could return. And what could've happened to Lunaris? What about Tizona?
More importantly...
Who are these Lunar Cultists I'm hearing about?
