Hey everyone. This is another AU that I decided looked intersting. It's a Purge AU. This first chapter was brought to you by Marauder Map Madness on Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. George Weasley couldn't believe his ear when he heard that Lord Voldemort had killed Harry Potter. Much worse that because he had won Lord Voldemort was setting into motion something vile. Something that had only been heard of in the Muggle world that Voldemort claimed to hate so much. He was going to instate something called the Purge.
If George had overheard the Muggle-born children from Hogwarts talking right this Purge was something one didn't want to mess with. In fact it was one of the most dangerous things ever to be invented. The Purge as he heard it explained was thus. Once every year there be a day where there was no law at all. The Muggle version had restrictions but he was pretty sure that Voldemort and the Death Eaters wouldn't have those for their one.
"Are you ready for Purge night, Weasley?" called one of the owners of the shops nearby.
Knowing the man would more than likely attack him on said night George kept his answer pretty noncommittal. He didn't want anyone besides him to know the lengths that he had gone to protect him and his family from the Death Eaters and others who'd love to see them dead or worse.
"Are you ready for Purge night, Wricket?" he called back.
The other man held up a machete looking much like a scene from one of the movies. Hermione had made them watch all the movies after the Purge was instated to learn ways to avoid being Purged upon. She wanted them to study the films and find ways to stay safe based upon what those people did right and wrong. It kind of felt like school to George but if it helped them stay alive he wasn't going to complain.
"Let's get home before the Purge starts," Ron suggested as he stepped out of the store with the last of the valuables.
They had seen that a lot of the stores in the movies got looted and what have so Ron and George had been moving the valuable items out of the store all day. They hid them at the Burrow knowing that with the protections still in place from when they were protecting Harry that would be the safest place for their items.
Nodding George called back a be safe to his neighbor and followed his brother towards the point where their Port Key was waiting. Their Port Key dropped them a few miles from home and they had to race just get into the protections before the alarm started going off. That alarm had never filled George Weasley with more fear before. It signaled the start of the Purge.
"Oh, George, Ron," their mother raced out of the house and pulled them each into a hug, "you're safe." She then counted her children. Besides Fred who was dead Ginny was missing. "Did you see your sister? Are is on her way?"
"She should have been her by now," Hermione said worriedly.
Ron and George looked at each other. Ginny was never late on Purge night before maybe something horrible had happened to her. They'd heard about people who kidnapped other people to Purge upon. They just never thought it would happen to one of them or anyone they knew.
"I'll go find her," George told his mother racing off into the unknown hoping he hadn't just gotten himself killed.
