"Why?"
"Why does this keep happening to me?"
These thoughts were the thoughts belonging to a usually boisterous young boy. It started when he got kicked out of the orphanage because no one wanted to adopt the "demon-child" and the matron didn't want to keep supporting someone who wouldn't get adopted. Left alone on the streets for a week he was famished only relishing on the small foodscraps he found around the town. Unfortunately for him, while he was searching for food in a small dumpster, a crowd found him. They smelt of alcohol and decided to have some fun with the kid.
"Look, it's the demon!"
"Kill him like he killed my family!"
"A monster like him doesn't deserve to live!"
The Anbu operatives watching didn't bother trying to help the poor child and some even went as far as to join the villagers when they started beating him. Shinobi also decided that they could release pent up frustration on the monster that killed their loved ones.
Naruto found himself getting kicked, punched and stabbed by various people, so much so that he couldn't scream. He couldn't even whisper. Stabbed in various places like the arm, leg, stomach and neck the pain just added up on him. Two shinobi felt extremely cocky and prepared handseals.

In a glorious burst of flames the child's body started burning with intense ferocity. His skin melted with burns and eventually succumbed to the bliss of unconsciousness, though he would never forget those pale and pitch black eyes.
"Yeah, we did it! We finally finished what the Fourth started!"
"We'll be heroes!"
The villagers of Konoha started celebrating as they thought they had finally killed Naruto before they froze from the amount of KI directed at them. The Sandaime Hokage stood behind them furious at what he had just arrived at. From inside the "council meeting" he saw a great burst of flame and cheering and saw that the villagers he protected tried to kill his surrogate grandson.
"ANBU! Arrest these fools of people." Hiruzen roared, eyes harder than steel. "They'll understand why I'm called the Kami of Shinobi."
"You can't do this! We're heroes!" The crowd argued. Killing intent intensified as even the some Anbu had trouble staying conscious.
"Make them have a night with Jonin Mitarashi in the T&I."
As the Anbu left with a handful of shinobi and civilians the Sandaime's eyes softened as he looked at the leaving crowd.
"Minato, I have failed you." In his sorrow he didn't see a shadow take Naruto away.
