Please don't shoot me. Dx I've been way too busy with schoolwork and Winter Percussion to have time to write. This is just a small drabble, but it had been floating around in my brain for a bit.
Everything Naruto-related belongs to Kishimoto. Lithium belongs to me.

Western Classics

Deidara woke to the sound of the TV running in the other room. He sat up, staring at the closed door with a half-asleep gaze. He figured that his partner would have been up already, seeing as she had been up most of the night from being unable to sleep. He rubbed at his eyes as he gave a tired yawn.

Once semi-awake he moved to stand, wincing as the wooden floor met his bare feet. He needed to start wearing socks when he went to bed – the floor was much too cold for his taste. Only when his hand grasped the doorknob did he stop to really hear what the TV was playing. Blond brows furrowed as he frowned. What was she watching?

Stepping into the hallway, he suddenly halted when he heard a gunshot. Of course, it was just the show, but it still seemed odd to him. As he walked into the living room, he came with probably the oddest sight he had seen yet. There was Lithium, sitting in front of the TV, watching a western movie.

"Darling, are you sure you're feeling well?"

He asked as he leaned over the back of the couch. Lithium tilted her head up to blink at Deidara, giving him a confused look.

"Yes. Why?"

"You're watching a western, yeah. It doesn't seem like you to watch this sort of thing."

Lithium gave a snort in response.

"Well, excuse me for liking a few westerns. Besides, this is a classic."

"…Are you sure you're not ill?"

"Oh, be quiet. If you don't want to watch it with me, go find someone else to keep you entertained."

Deidara gave her a long, skeptical look. In the end he chose to sit down next to her, and she happily leaned against him as she settled back again. He wrapped an arm around her, and she leaned her head against his shoulder.

The movie passed by in comfortable silence. Deidara found that he had found the characters amusing, even if they wore ridiculous outfits. Seriously, who wore long sleeves shirts in the desert? And what was up with the whole "I'll-stare-at-you-for-ten-minutes-and-then-fire" thing? It made absolutely no sense to him. One of the bad guys had vaguely reminded him of Kakuzu, with his greed and lust for money.

As the next movie's title flickered onto the screen, Lithium made a move to stand. She was deftly pulled back down by the blond, and she sent him a look that clearly asked for why he had done that.

"I want to watch this move, yeah."

Lithium gave a small grin at his comment, replying,

"I thought you didn't like westerns."

"So did I, yeah. Apparently, I was wrong."

That was the day when Deidara learned that westerns weren't as bad as he had thought they were.
