Elfin Lied, Lucy/Kota & time moves foreword
Suddenly, there is a knock at the door.
It cuts the regained normalcy that they gained, cuts through this routine like a knife. Life before this moment—as he slips off his shoes and makes the first few steps to open the door—had slowly moved forward, crawling at a snails pace after everything that had happened.
Life returns to something that they could all call living—and it continued, steadily, to move that way, up until that moment.
And, vaguely, he hopes as the clock continues to tick-tick-tick-tick in the distance.
And the clock continues to tick-tick-tick-tick in the distance.
He—no, they—miss her; each day, every second or minute or hour, each moment. It's like a part is lost, one that can never be fully replaced in their lives.
But she's there behind the door. She's standing there—alive and breathing and safe—just before her takes in his arms, where she should be.
Because she's back and life, really, is back to normal.
note:
1. The Elfen Lied ending was left ambiguous as to her fate, though it's heavily implied--for me, at least--that Lucy did survive. This takes place at the last episode of the anime (at the very ending sequence/segment, actually) and has been done to death a billion times by now. XD
2. This is actually a very old piece that I finished, but never surfaced from my hard-drive until very recently. I hope you all like it; I had to edit a lot of it to get it to the point in which I was satisfied with it, and I'm pretty happy with it considering its age.
