"Mooommm," Kya whined. "Shouldn't Daddy and Tenzin be home by now?" Katara smiled and shook her head, pondering how she would deal with her daughter's impatience. "They've been gone for like a whole month!" The nine-year-old groaned and slumped down in her chair at the lunch table. Katara raised an eyebrow at her daughter, "It's only been two weeks. They'll be home by tonight, Sweetie. Now go get Bumi. He can't sleep forever." The little waterbender pushed her chair back and jumped down from it, starting to head toward her big brother's room. She never reached it, however, instead yelling his name loudly as soon as she thought he would be within earshot. The boy trudged out his door, having just woken up from an entire morning of sleeping in.

Once Aang and Tenzin arrived back home, it would be the first Sunday the whole family could spend together since the two airbenders had left for their "educational" trip to the Western Air Temple, which most likely also served as an excuse for the avatar to show his son frivolous airbending games. The rest of the family didn't blame him. After all, it wasn't as if there was anyone else who could learn them.

"Is Dad back yet?" Bumi yawned when he entered the kitchen. "Not yet," Kya pouted, climbing back onto her chair to wait for the meal to be ready. Bumi turned around and started back toward the hallway. "Wake me up when he gets here." "I don't think so," Katara scolded, pulling him back by the arm. "You can't sleep all day." "Yeah," Kya chirped. "Mommy's right. I've been up for hours, and you don't see me still tired!" "Don't be a kiss-up." Kya furrowed her eyebrows, suddenly remembering at the perfect time that her dear brother was, in fact, a non-bender. She bended the water out of her drinking glass and splashed his face and shirt with it. "Hey!" he shouted furiously. Katara turned around and let out a frustrated sigh. "Kya!" She couldn't get another word out before the deep roar of an air bison was heard from outside the house and the culprit scrambled out of the room, yelling, "Daddy!"

Bumi gave his mother a disapproving glance before heading out after his sister, shirt still sopping wet.
