This is my first attempt at a Glee story. I'm trying to write a Will/Emma story, but it's proving to be a wee bit difficult at the moment, so I've decided to write about my second favorite pairing: Rachel/Finn...
Enjoy!
Hiccup
Finn's hiccups were contained inside the music room, making them more annoying than intended. Rachel glanced up from her lyrics for the Glee Club's newest song. She glared at him.
"Look, I don't mean to be rude, but if you want my help with this nothing-less-than-a-masterpiece, you need to at least try to get rid of those unpleasant bodily functions."
Finn scrunched his eyebrows together. "Wha-a-t?"
Rachel sighed and said, "Your hiccups have to go if you want my highly demanded yet extremely underrated help with this song... okay?"
Finn hiccuped in response.
Rachel set the music down on top of the piano and walked back toward Finn. She set her hand on her hip.
"Try holding your breath."
Finn rolled his eyes, glanced up at the ceiling, and sucked in some air. His face turned red at a leisurely pace and his stomach puffed out, exerting conserved breath through his nostrils. It was still, needless to say, aggravating.
"Okay, okay... breathe before you get brain damage or something."
Finn exhaled, wheezing a little. Then once his breathing became normal, he observed, "Hey... I think they're go-o-nnneverm-i-nd..." He seemed defeated; like the McKinley High football team had lost for the umpteenth time. He tried holding his breath again for both his and Rachel's sakes.
Rachel thought for a moment. "Hold on... I think I have a bottle of water in my bag..." She marched toward the considerable amount of chairs in the back of the area as Finn began breathing once again.
"Wh-a-at's water going t-o-o do? Drow-w-n their spir-i-its?"
Rachel ignored his question and, without warning, forced the nozzle into his mouth. He almost choked, but eventually, he made it so the water slid smoothly down his esophagus. After she took the bottle back and twisted on the cap, they waited.
Hiccup. Hiccup.
Rachel put the water next to the piece of music on the piano. Then she took Finn's lyrics and set it there as well.
"Well... the only thing I can think of to do now is to scare you," Rachel shared. She and Finn stared at each other for a bit. And while the hiccups still occured, Finn began to laugh.
"Ho-o-w could you eve-e-r be sca-a-ry? You're a-a-bout as sca-a-ry as chri-i-stmas! Whi-i-ch, actually, when you sto-o-p to think a-a-bout it, it i-is scary... Like when pe-e-ople think th-e-y can s-i-ng... or, at my-y grandma's h-o-use, she m-a-kes me -"
Rachel, becoming increasingly agitated and restless (though she found Finn's rambling to be quite cute, his hiccups, nevertheless, weren't), grabbed his face and kissed him long and hard. His lips were warm, just as she remembered, and smooth and his breath was sweet and tangy. She let go of his chin and rubbed her thumb along his jawline.
Finn, just now closing his eyes, wrapped his arms around her and squeezed. Rachel lifted up her right foot as he gradually grazed his hands along her spine. Everything was forgotten.
Rachel was the first to pull away. She took a step back, feeling a little lightheaded and dizzy. Finn gawked at her until reality struck him and he asked, "Was that supposed to scare me?"
Rachel ran her index finger across her forehead. Then she answered with: "Actually... I just wanted you to shut up, but, actually, it... looks as though it worked."
Finn smiled as her words smacked him in the face. "My hiccups... they've -"
"Vanished. Without a trace," Rachel finished. She smiled back.
And hours later, Rachel could still hear Finn's hiccups humming in her mind. They were like fresh music to her dreams.
