A/N: Please note that I haven't read The Wake, and so therefore have no knowledge of whether or not Hippolyta Hall comes back into the picture (as it were) -I wrote this quite soon after reading Kindly Ones. Also, deepest apologises to anyone was unfourtunate enough to find my drabble 'The thin line in fruitloops' - I am now considerably better informed. Apologises to lady Delirium, for that matter, also.

The Flight of Lyta Hall

My hair is snarled in knots

Like steel cobwebs in the edges of my mind

It's uncombed, unkempt for days now

How long was I asleep?

My son, my son, they TOOK MY SON

Not that it matters, not any more

The witch told me what I did

Spared no detail,

Remorseless, unforgiving

Liken to the purveyors of my deed

Deadlights in her eyes

I run now

Like a rat, panicked in its cage

I understand too well

What did I do?

Dare not think,

I dare not feel

Too afraid to face my hunters:

Madness

Grief

Hate and truth,

Wings and claws and teeth

I don't wanna die

She won't be pleased

I understand now, what I did.

Oh yes

I understand too well.
