Sirius caught Meg alone in the hallway stopped her. "I heard you broke up with Regulus?"

She leaned back against the wall and dropped her book bag. "It was mutual."

He leaned over her and looked her in the eyes. Other students were walking about now, going from one class to the other. "Why was it mutual?" Her eyes glared and she sneered at him.

"Why do you care so much? It doesn't matter. And why don't you ask Regulus?" she started poking his chest. "Oh that's right, it's because you don't give a damn about him, isn't that right?" He pushed her back against the wall and glared at her.

Sirius spoke in a low growl, "Shut up, you don't know anything you're talking about."

"Don't I? You don't think I do? Do you, you arrogant self centered-"

"No you don't have a fucking clue-"

"I was at your house Sirius." He froze and stood back a bit. She picked up her book bag and slung it across her shoulders.

"Oh."

"Yeah, oh." They both eyed the ground as if it would suddenly start reshaping and the patterns would begin to swirl and sink into the floor.

"Then why'd you split?"

She sighed heavily and brushed the hair back from her face. "I don't know. He chose his side and I chose mine." She looked around the hall that was now filling up with people. "I don't know why Sirius."

"Chose sides?" He simply stated and then he leaned against the wall himself and whispered, "So Regulus joined up didn't he?"

She eyed him with a contemptuous look. "Yes, yes he did?"

"When?"

"Well, I don't know specifics," she turned towards him. "But it was awhile after you left." She had the decency to look at the floor. "That I know."

"I see."

They stood awkwardly around for a minute before the halls started to thin. "Look Sirius, I should get to Potions before I'm late."

"Right." He eyed the floor and looked as if he wouldn't be moving from his spot for awhile.

"I'll catch up with you later then." And she started walking away towards the dungeons.

He murmured a faint goodbye
