I hope you guys like this short one-shot!
ENJOY!
It had been seven years since the war in the country of Fiore began. It had been two years since 'he' left to go serve in the army. Every week, a letter arrived for his beloved, though this week, a letter has yet to come.
-xX Flashback Xx-
"Why!? Why did it have to be Gray-Sama!?" A blue haired young woman cried on the chest of a man with army clothes and luggage in hand.
"Don't be like that Juvia... The country needs more men to fight, and it just happened that I was chosen to be one of them." He had raven colored hair and dark eyes that only looked at the person holding him.
"The reason they need more men is because the armies' men are either dead or injured heavily! They know we practically have no chance at winning and yet-!" Juvia protested. "We just got married... Juvia doesn't want to lose Gray-Sama already! If Gray-Sama goes, it's like a suicide."
"I won't disappear, because if I do, I won't be able to see your smile anymore. I'll try and send letters every week for you, so please take care of yourself while I'm gone. Okay?" Gray asked in a gentle tone.
"But-" Juvia began, though stopped once she realized Gray had put something around her neck. It was his crucifix that he wore with him everywhere he went. Something he held dear.
"Gray-sama... This is..."
"It's something that will protect you while I'm away." Gray caressed her cheeks and made her blush.
"Then what will protect Gray-sama? You need this more than Juvia." Juvia held the necklace tightly and felt something sweet and warm on her lips. The same feeling she felt on her wedding day.
"This kiss will be enough to protect me." He smiled and held her close to him when he realized his ride was there.
"Juvia will really miss you..." Juvia started to feel her eyes burn from the crying when her husband sat in the vehicle. Before driving away, Gray pulled down the windows and shouted loudly.
"I will always love you!" Then, the vehicle drove away as Juvia tried chasing after it.
"Juvia...! Juvia loves...! Gray-sama too...!" She panted when she stopped running. Her knees shook and soon, she was on the ground crying in despair.
-xX One Year Later Xx-
Juvia was sitting on a bench on her house's front porch, still waiting for her weekly letter which was frighteningly late. The war was almost over and Fiore was undoubtedly going to win, and some of the men that had been serving were being sent home. Though, quite a few of the men were sent home in caskets, sadly. So many thoughts went through her mind and it almost drove her mad. She hadn't cried since the day Gray left, though at this point she was on the brink of tears.
"Umm, ma'am? Here's your letters for today." The mail man said to her.
"Oh, thank you so much." Juvia said as she rushed to him to get it. She saw the letter she wanted and her heavy chest became lighter in an instant. She opened up the envelope to find an unusually short sentence.
-xX Letter Xx-
I'm home
-xXx-
Juvia was shocked at the words she just read and looked in front of her. The mailman took off his hat that shadowed his face only to reveal an all too familiar one.
"Welcome home, Gray-sama!" Juvia exclaimed.
"I told you I'd be back." Gray smiled.
Liked it? Well, I hope you did. c:
