Not what you want...

"Bella honey. Is your letter here yet?" Danine Figg, Arabella's mother asked. Arabella hated being called Bella. That's why her mother did it, Arabella was sure of it.

"No, but why should it. I haven't showed an ounce of magic since I was born. " Arabella said to herself. But to her mother she just yelled. "No!"

Already her mother had gotten her a present for going to Hogwarts, a beautiful Tabby cat named Heelin. Arabella loved that cat. She loved all cats, and was glad that was the animal her mother had gotten her for Hogwarts.

But Arabella didn't think she'd be going to Hogwarts. She hadn't shown any magical powers, and she was 12. She was already too old. That really stinks, but her mother was making it worse by having so much hope that she'd get her letter this year.

Arabella went back to her room and grabbed her cat. She held it close to her, so that when her mother came up she would have an excuse for not noticing the letter didn't come. The cat purred as she held it close.

Danine came up and appeared in the doorway. "So, is the letter here, yet."

"Mom, it's not coming. It's a year late. You know I won't be allowed to Hogwarts. I have no magical powers." Arabella said in a whiny voice. "You won't believe me will you."

Her mother shook her head. "You will get your letter. You're not a squib. I cannot believe you think you are. "

"Mom, I can't believe you think I'm not one. If I was I would have gotten my letter last year." Her mom shrugged and walked away. Arabella was pissed. How could her mother be so stupid. She was not and will not be a witch.

Thirty years later Arabella looked at her daughter, "It's okay Nats. It doesn't matter if you get your letter or not. When I was waiting..."

"Do not call me Nats mom. It's Natalie. Nat-a-lee. And I don't care how anxious you were for your letter. Why did you have to tell me I'd be a witch. I hate you." Natalie stormed off.

But Arabella knew that her daughter would get a letter. She had shown her first bit of magic just the day before on June, 30. It was a special day for everyone in their family. Natalie had levitated without knowing it. Arabella was a bit jealous.

At that moment an owl came and stood on the windowsill. "Natalie! An owls here!"

Natalie bounded down the stairs excitedly. "Really!"

Suddenly her face grew dark. "That's another thing. How am I supposed to keep in contact with anyone without an owl of my own? I hate cats, so what do you get me, a dumb cat. Just because you like them, doesn't mean I do. I absolutely despise them."

Natalie then walked away without an answer. When they went shopping to get her school supplies Arabella made sure to get Natalie an owl of her own. But all Natalie said about it was. "That's the ugliest creature I've seen in my life."

Natalie left for Hogwarts a few months later. Arabella wasn't surprised to hear that her daughter had been put in Slytherin. That summer when Natalie came home she rambled on and on about how someday she would change her name and become a better witch than anyone else.

That's why Arabella wasn't surprised when six years later Natalie changed her name to Deloras Umbridge and left the house for good. She never even came back to say hi to her mother again.
