The air was crisp as the Fire Nation ship entering the arctic atmosphere of the South Pole. Fire Lord Zuko saw his breath take shape. It reminded him of smoke, the way the moisture in his breath froze in the cold. He heard foot-steps and turned to see who it was. It was Toph. He was escorting her to Sokka and Katara's village. Zuko was oblivious to the painfully discomforted expression on her face.
"I've been in this climate several times during the war. It always baffles me how I can see my breath in the cold air," Zuko remarked, "I saw things a lot different back then. I obeyed my father's commands without thinking about them. I had no idea of how anything worked, I only thought of myself and my life."
Toph rolled her eyes. Zuko seemed be too caught up the moment to remember she was blind. The Fire Lord noticed his friend's uneasiness.
"After meeting you and Aang I realized just how wrong I was. I used to think that being different was not right. But now I know it makes us all unique," Zuko said sweetly to Toph, "This cold weather just proves the theory to be right more. What do you think?"
"My feet are so cold they're going numb. I can't stand it because it's too hard to 'see,'" Toph blurted out.
