Hello fellow Burningleafshipppers/Luckyshippers (or not)! I've decided to re-do this story, as I've done with my other stories, as you can tell. Some people here have been telling me that my chapters on this story are too short. I've been thinking about that, and I've decided to increase the amount of words in each chapter. (And also explain why Red turned into a Pokeathlete more throughly and about Leaf's job too.) Remember, this is an AU, so it might have a mixture of manga and game characters. I'm changing the ages, too. Red was fifteen when he lost to Ethan, and now he's seventeen. Not twenty. That was pretty confusing. I WILL NOT ADD NEW CHAPTERS UNTIL I'VE FINISHED RE-DOING THE FIRST FOUR CHAPTERS. PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT I HAVE OTHER STORIES I NEED TO RE-DO. IT WILL TAKE LONG. Now, onto the story!

Chapter 1: The Story of Red

Red's POV

"I'm exhausted," I muttered, mostly to myself. I had just ran a mile in the Speed Contest with my newly caught Aerodactyl and Rapidash. I also had my Espeon from my original journey. I had trained them to the maximum and it was a hard day at work. I looked at the medals on my Pokemon. Pikachu walked along with me. He looked bright and cheerful as always. I had left my Snorlax and Venusaur in my PC. I didn't really need them right now. Or ever, I guess.

It has been two years since my humiliating defeat at Mt. Silver. It was against a Pokemon trainer named Ethan Gold. He was very strong. He had types to counterattack mine. I don't really feel like remembering. Too much loss.

Everyone lied to me. They said that I was a master, the best of the best, the unbeatable, a legend, and a god. They were very wrong. I have no idea how I lost. Maybe I was half-awake. Probably. I always am.

I don't really have any friends anymore. I had lost touch with my rival and second best friend, Blue Oak. Apparently, he's the new gym leader of Viridian City. Good for him. Ethan wiped the floor with him, I bet. I had also lost touch with my best friend, Leaf Green.

Leaf Green. My best childhood friend. I don't know how I lost her. We separated at one point in our journey. She wanted to beat me at my own game. I told her fine. She could try. She did. I don't know what happened to her. She probably lost to someone challenging. She probably would cry like the baby she is. Or was. I don't know. But that's why I still love her.

I met lots of people on the way. I met the Cerulean City Gym Leader, Misty Waterflower. She was...kind of interesting. I caught her with her boyfriend at Route 25 before battling her. Apparently she's quite the girl. I still liked Leaf better, though. After I beat her, she asked me if I could help her control her Gyarados because it was acting strange. We found out that Team Rocket was controlling it through radio waves and we beat them. She asked me if she could join me. I told her I go alone. She gave me her number on my PokeGear to keep in touch.

I met a girl named Yellow of the Viridian Forest or Amarillo del Bosque Verde. I thought she was a boy at first because she was wearing a hat to cover her long, golden ponytail. She was very timid, but she was also very kind. I met her before going to Viridian City. It was right after Leaf and I had separated. Well, on our journeys. I saw her fishing with a Pikachu by her side. She saw me watching her and dropped her fishing rod in the lake. I realized that and jumped into the lake to get it before it sank to the bottom. She quietly thanked me and took it back. I noticed she had a soft voice and quickly figured out that she was a girl, not a boy. She showed me where she lived. I told her straight-forward that she was a girl. Not asked, told. A statement. She blushed and nodded her head. We talked for a while. Well, she talked for a while. She told me about how her family perished in a forest fire and how her uncle is the only one she could contact but he hasn't responded for three years. I asked her if she would like to come with me. She shook her head. Yellow told me that her duty was to the forest.

Well.

She told me that we could keep in touch, but she didn't have a PokeGear. I told her that I had an extra PokeGear that she could have. Yellow nodded her head and slowly accepted it. I taught her how to use it and registered my number in it. She needs help. We have kept in touch daily. She keeps me company.

I met a boy by the name of Bill. He stated that he had made the Pokemon Storage System and that everyone told him that he was a genius. I didn't buy it and quickly set off to Vermillion City when he realized that I was leaving. I met him at Route 25 right after talking to Misty and her boyfriend. He lived in a small cottage right next to the cliff. He started explaining to me that he had graduated college at an early age and that he had invented other machinery such as the VS Seeker. Bill also told me that even though he looked like a weak person, he could battle if he was put to the test. He gave me an Eevee as a gift from him.

That's how I got my Espeon.

I beat a pathetic gang of grunts by the name of Team Rocket. Their leader was the first Viridian Gym Leader, Giovanni. He wasn't all that tough like the grunts described them as. I recall a pair of the name of Jessie and James with their Meowth who said that they would eventually beat them; they never did. Giovanni used Ground-type Pokemon, but he did not choose a wise choice of them, in my opinion. He had two Rhyhorns when it's never a good idea to use two of the same Pokemon. He only had five Pokemon, and they weren't all that hard. He's a sore loser.

I had gone through a long journey. I was elated when I beat Blue. I saw a faint disappointment in his eyes, but he saw that I looked at him and he grinned from ear to ear and yelled that even though I was champion now, he would beat me soon. His team was not easy to beat. He had his Pidgeot that used Whirlwind a lot to switch my Pokemon out of battle and threw me off my original strategy. The Exeggutor he had could use Trick Room, so that made it attack first every time. His toughest Pokemon in my opinion were Gyrarados and Arcanine. Gyrarados could use Dragon Dance which boosted his Attack and Speed which made its attacks faster and stronger. Blue's Rhydon was much harder than Giovanni's two Rhyhorns combined. It knew a good combination of different type of moves and its ability Rock Head was useful in battle. Machamp was not only a Fighting-type Pokemon, but it knew Ground and Rock-type moves. They were extremely difficult to beat.

After beating Blue, Professor Oak came in. He told me that I won because I took better care of my Pokemon. He scolded Blue for not doing what I did, and I ended up pitying him. He had a sad face, but he quickly put on a facade and gave me a grin. I wondered where Leaf was at that time. I don't know why she popped into my head. I remember how I met her, though.

I was walking to my mailbox to see if the approval for being a Pokemon Trainer. I was five years at the time. My mother had told me that I could get my starter Pokemon and battle with other Pokemon at the age of ten. But she told me I was going to start on my journey at eleven. I frowned at her when she said that because Blue had told me that I could start at ten. She shook her head and said that was her final decision. But I had to get the approval to be a Pokemon Trainer from the Elite Four. They had to send a letter and sign it.

As soon as I looked inside, nothing was there. I pouted and started to go to Blue's house to tell him about my disappointment when I saw someone walk out of the house across mine. That house had not been inhabited by anyone since I was born. They had built it after our houses, but no one would buy it. Until now. I hid behind the mailbox and peeked at who it was.

It was a small girl. Her parents were inside, probably talking about the house and how nice it was. I was surprised to see that they had built a small playground next to the house. The girl had a lollipop the size of her hand and started licking it. She went to one of the small swings, but she couldn't swing very high. Blue and I usually played at his grandfather's laboratory or we just played outside with his toys. It was the first time I had ever seen a playground.

I stared so much at the girl swinging that I tripped over a tree's root and fell right on my face. The girl jumped at me moaning and quickly hid behind her house. I got up slowly and saw her staring at me with big chocolate brown eyes. She looked frail. Her skin was very pale and had honey brown hair. She was wearing a small pink dress with shoes to match. Her headband was red, though. I blushed at her. I thought she was pretty. But I remembered that I had only interacted with Blue and no one else. We didn't dare go to Route 1. We would get in trouble. So, I basically didn't know how to talk to a girl. I got up and started walking towards her. She whimpered.

"Um, hello. My name is Red Fires, what's yours?" I asked her with courage. She looked at me like I had two heads. Other than that, she didn't respond. All she did was stare at me as if I was a rare Pokemon she had never seen before. I waved at her and tried to get her attention. I saw she had tears in her eyes.

"Don't cry! I promise I won't do anything to you!" I said with panic. She wiped away her tears and started licking her lollipop again. She rubbed her shoes together and stared at the floor. I guessed she didn't like to talk. Or at least, talk to people other than her parents. I guessed it was because she had just moved here. Or I just didn't notice. I grabbed her hand and gestured for her to sit down on the swing. The girl nodded and sat down. She was trembling.

I pushed the swing so that she could go high. She was surprised that I had started pushing her and held on with one hand on one of the chains of the swing. I pushed her even harder so that she could touch the big oak tree near her house. She touched one of the leaves and started giggling and then laughed. She laughed and laughed while I got even more tired. I didn't care. I was happy that she wasn't scared of me anymore.

"Stop, Red, stop!" I flinched at her saying my name and stopped pushing her. The girl got off and bit her lollipop. She extended her free hand and I shook it. She smiled a toothy grin and said, "I'm Leaf Green. I hope we can be friends!" I blushed at her smile. I soon heard Blue yelling for me to come over. He noticed that I was holding hands with a girl and widened his eyes. He pouted and yelled that it wasn't fair for me to have a girlfriend. I blushed even more and Leaf just started eating her lollipop and waved to Blue.

That was the start of our friendship. With Blue too, of course. The three of us stayed friends a very long time. Until our journeys.

I still remembered that moment when Professor Oak was explaining to me that I could either stay here in the Indigo Plateau or go to the peak of Mount Silver and wait for challengers strong enough to challenge me. That, however, would affect my title and give me a higher title as the Ultimate Kanto Champion. I accepted and gave the Champion title to Lance, one of the Elite Four. I asked Blue first, but he declined and announced that he was going to be the Viridian Gym Leader. I nodded and set out to Mount Silver.

I wanted to tell Leaf first. I really did. But I never found her. Her mother had told me that she had set out to Johto after winning all eight badges. Leaf wanted to win all sixteen badges of both regions. After that, she would challenge the Champion. I asked her which one. She told me that she said that she would challenge the Ultimate Kanto Champion.

I was conflicted.

I wanted Leaf to win, but that meant giving up my title. I told her mom to give her my PokeGear number and to tell Leaf that I'll be waiting for her challenge. I also told her to be ready because I will. I set out for Mount Silver. I reached the top, but it wasn't as easy as I thought. There was a bunch of paths for me to take and I found out that it was freezing cold at the top. I set out my things in a cave I found near the peak and I waited. And waited. And waited.

She never came.

I realized she wasn't coming.

I broke down and I never came down from the mountain. I didn't want to know what happened to her. Blue would call me everyday, but I would never answer. I didn't feel like explaining. I couldn't believe. I would never get to see Leaf's Pokemon and all her badges. I was very disappointed and depressed. I never got a call from her. I literally thought that she had died somewhere in Johto. And I hated myself for not being there when it happened.

That is, until Ethan came.

The kid was pumped up. He had a hat on backwards and some stupid black baseball pants. He should consider what he was wearing. The only thing that I liked about his clothes was his jacket. I thought it was pretty cool at the time. I started talking first, quietly but then boldly.

"Who...are you?"

"I'm Ethan, and I came here to defeat you."

"Ok, I'll be your opponent, let me enjoy myself a little."

"I'll make sure that you won't think that of me again. Get ready!"

He sent out a Typhlosion who looked very strong and healthy. I would have to see about that. I sent out my partner, Pikachu, obviously. However, I didn't know that Typholsion knew Earthquake. It easily shook my Pikachu up and it fainted. I widened my eyes and saw Ethan do a fist pump and high-five Typhlosion. I sneered at them and sent out my Lapras. Typhlosion used Hidden Power and affected Lapras, but it stood its ground. Lapras used Hydro Pump and instantly beat it. Ethan widened his eyes in surprise. I smirked and mockingly high-fived Lapras. Ethan yelled and said that he wasn't done yet. He sent out a Lapras of his own. He told it to use Hyper Beam and Lapras fainted. I face-palmed myself. Ethan did another fist pump. I groaned. This kid was getting on my nerves. I was fifteen at the time. I sent out Snorlax and told it to use Giga Impact. It would take up a turn, but it was worth it. It easily beat his Lapras and Ethan had another downcast face. He sent out a Gengar and told it to use Curse on it. I told Snorlax to use Amnesia. In turn, Gengar used Focus Blast. Snorlax still had enough HP to take down his Gengar with Crunch. Ethan whined like a baby when that happened. 3-2. He then took out a Machamp. I was surprised at that. He told it to use Close Combat and easily knocked out my Snorlax. I then sent out Venusaur and told it to use Solarbeam. Unfortunately, it couldn't avoid Machamp's Sheer Cold. It automatically took out Venusaur. 2-2. Dammit. I took out Charizard, but it was no good. Machamp used DynamicPunch and took it out too. I finally resorted to using Blastoise, and it ended up fainting as well. 0-2. I lost.

I...lost.

"Wow, what a match! I'm so glad that I got to battle against you!" Ethan smiled a cheeky grin, shook my hand, and walked off whistling. I stood there with a blank face when he did all that. I couldn't believe it. I lost. I kept on repeating in my head for two more years.

"Pika!" Pikachu took me out of my thoughts. I shook my head and said I was all right.

After losing to Ethan, I told Professor Oak. He was shocked, but he said that it was all right. I yelled at him for the first time in my life that it wasn't. I pushed Blue out of the way when he tried to console me. I told my mother I was leaving and told me that Leaf had given her a letter. I snatched it from her and stormed off. I have never read it.

I flew to Johto. I wanted to see what awaited me there. The first city I went to was Ecruteak City. I was just hanging out near the Pokemon Center when I saw everyone come into a crowd. There was a boy in the middle. He had a bunch of flyers and was saying that the Pokeathlon was open. I didn't know what that was at the time, and apparently, neither did anyone else. Yellow called me. She was another person who tried to call me during my lonely isolation on Mount Silver. I responded with a muttered hello. I heard her gasp and say, "Mr. Red! You-you responded! I have so much to tell you! Mr. Blue, the Viridian City Gym Leader taught me how to use Pokemon and battle! I really wished you could've been there, Mr. Red. I want to battle you! And also..." I didn't hear much after that. I guess Blue can have her.

"Hey, mister! Do you want one?" The kid asked me. He held out a flyer with bright eyes. I would've felt bad if I had harshly said no to him. So I took it.

"Uh...sure..." I muttered. His face lit up and he gave it to me. He walked away with glee, and I stared at the flyer in my hand. It had the Pokeathlon thing on it. It explained the basics and showed the directions. I really didn't want to battle that much, so I went to it. I won the Speed Competition first. Everyone congratulated and stuff. It was weird and uncomfortable for so much people cheering me on. But I went along with it.

I noticed that I didn't grow to like the attention.

"Pika pi!" Pikachu interrupted my thoughts. I sighed and told it to stop doing that. I was trying to look for a place to stay. I looked around. We were in the middle of Route 47. AKA the middle of nowhere. I sat down on a huge rock along the pathway and tried to look around again. I squinted to try to see a light nearby. I motioned for my Pokemon to follow me.

I noticed it was coming from a small restaurant. My stomach growled with hunger. I guess it was okay to eat. And sleep, duh. I saw the sign. It read: Take a rest and eat while you can! An inn to rest and a place to eat into one!

How cheesy.

I walked in anyways. There wasn't that much people. There was a lot of old people, I can tell you that. I saw a girl hop from corner to corner trying to get everyone's order and room to stay in. She had panicked look on her face. She looked like one of those fast food restaurant cashiers. With the visor and everything. She noticed and gave a big grin. Probably to bribe me. I noticed a similarity of her and Leaf. I noticed it was Leaf.

"Hello, sir! How may I-"

She was cut off by my hug. I don't give hugs that often, but when I do, it's probably something important.

This is important.

Leaf pushed me off and gasped for air. She looked at me with a confused expression and then realized who I was. She broke into tears and wailed. I told her to keep it down. What the hell was she doing working at this dump? I needed to ask her that later.

But for now, maybe a little chat and rest will do.

And that's it! Much, much longer than the original, right? I hope you all enjoyed this chapter, because there's plenty more to be read! Well, later. Anyways, I hope that most of you are much more satisfied with this chapter than the original. PLEASE DO NOT READ THE REST. IT IS BAD. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. Or you can just wait for the other re-doings I need to make. No more math in this thing. Both of them are seventeen. I hope you enjoyed reading this chapter as I had writing it!

Please Read and Review!
