"Lily everything will be alright, I promise," James whispered.
He was holding Lily's tear stained, freckled, and paler-than-usual face between his palms. She was holding back tears, trying not to cry in front of him. He remembered briefly that in their fifth year she had told him she did not like crying in front of others.
Her eyes were closed shut tightly, more tears threatening to fall. Lily's pale pink lips were trembling and she was shivering, although not from the cold.
James felt somewhat reminiscent, he felt as though he were reliving the same scene from years ago.
Lily moved close to James, trying to keep their bodies as close as possible. Unfortunately baby Harry, who was still in her stomach, was preventing it. She felt his hands leave her face and wrap around her body.
She suddenly felt safer, more than she ever had. Somehow in her husband's arms Lily felt protected and content.
Lily rested her head against his shoulder and James rested his face on top of her head. He breathed in her scent, lavender.
"Do you promise James," Lily asked breathlessly.
Jams kissed the top of Lily's head and muttered. "Of course Lily, and a marauder always keeps his promise".
Just a small LilyJames drabble. These are slightly addicting but it's probably because they're my favorite HP couple. Oh well I seemed to be condemned to write only LilyJames angst… Well sort of. I'll try a different type later, but angst is just kind of fun and easy to write for me!
I don't know when exactly this takes place; I imagine it sometime close to right after when Dumbledore tells the Potters about the prophecy. I expect Lily would take it much worse than James, you know with the whole mother instinct thing.
Disclaimer: Jo Rowling still owns Harry Potter.
