Word Count- 419

The first time that Dorcas ever picked up an instrument she was nine. Nine years old with an overactive imagination and a need to constantly be doing something. Music was perfect for her.

So, she started by learning the guitar. She would spend hours upon hours of just strumming the strings, completely ignorant to the ungodly sounds she was making. Needless to say, she wasn't very good. But she had the passion, which was all anyone had ever asked for.

All of her time was spent playing. You couldn't find her without a guitar in her hand or a song in her heart. Music became her life. It wasn't too long until everyone else realised it too. Her family knew Dorcas, they knew what made her tick and they knew what she wanted more than anything.

So they gave it to her.

The first time Dorcas walked into the room she was nervous. She the kind of nervous where your heart thumps in your chest at a hundred miles per minute and your palms are so sweaty that you have to keep wiping them repeatedly.

It was her first music lesson. It was her first professional lesson where she would finally learn how to play the instruments that she loved so much. See, over time music had become everything to her. Sure, it had started as just a hobby. But it wasn't too long until it became more than that, it wasn't long until she started to appreciate music for what it was. An escape.

And sure, at nine years old Dorcas didn't exactly know just how much she loved music. And she didn't know exactly why she loved it either. But she knew that she did and all she could hope for, was that music loved Dorcas just as much too.

Eventually, her hard work started to pay off. She could play the guitar like a pro and had even started expanding her horizons a little bit and started paying attention on how to play other instruments too.

She was at Hogwarts now and even though that meant, she couldn't play as much as she liked. She still played.

Because for the first time, Dorcas knew she had found something good. Something that was meant just for her. Because music was her life and her life was music too.
