"Sometimes in love it lasts, and sometimes it hurts instead."

The city streets were a bit crowded that cold night. Busy shoppers come in and out of the convenience store across the coffee shop where he was comfortably sipping his favorite creamy Columbian espresso. It has been indeed a long time since he'd left Japan and the changes were seemingly obvious. From the ordinary stool and bar counter, Maid Latte, the coffee shop, renovated their place and now expanded three times. The stools were replaced with couches, sofas, and bead bags. Their waitresses were also dolled into the traditional maid servants. And this was all because of the new owner- Misaki Ayuzawa.

"Do you have other order, Sir?" asked the waitress. He smiled then shook his head.

"Well, can I request a song, perhaps?"

"Gladly," replied the lady, cheeks started to color, amusingly and cutely. "What would it be?"

"Safe and sound and Someone like you."

Now, the whole face of the lady finally turned tomato. Tsk. Why was it titled such?

"Ok, sir."

"Ok, soda and beans right? Will that be all?" said a familiar voice that caused the turning of his head. And the moment his gaze found that black-haired lass, he found it hard to let go off. She'd matured overtime but it looked her more beautiful and empowered.

The woman went outside and waited for the traffic sign to turn green for her to cross and buy some stuffs on the convenience store. He had a hard time recovering; it was as if he was bewitched, like the old times. She never ceased to amaze him.

"Misaki…" he softly muttered, still looking at her back. And as if heavens have heard him, she did turn her head and met his longing gaze. Astonishment filled her gentle face the moment her dark eyes met those familiarly annoying emerald; those emeralds she'll never be able to live with.

Two frozen bodies continued staring at each other. Only God knew how much they longed to be in each other's' arms. His signature smile curved on his lips as his he lifted his hand and pointed his finger towards an object on her sides. She turned, looked back at him then smiled as she crossed the road.

'Just close your eyes, the sun is going down, you'll be alright, no one can hurt you now, come morning light, you and I'll be safe and sound…'

It's sad, but no matter how much he wanted to chase and run after her, hug her from behind, and kiss her the way he used to, the situation they were into disallowed him to do so.

His phone rang, a mission was given should he chose to accept it- AGAIN. He stood and went outside. Adelle's words were the last thing that registered unto his mind before he embraced his real life, his own new world.

He loved her. She loved him….

But some love was meant to be forever, but not together.

He's an assassin, a profession that restricts commitment. They needed to part ways so that he could protect her. Protect her from the rebuts of his enemies…

A/N: well, this one's inspired from the Avenger's Blackwidow, Jason Bourne of "Bourne Supremacy", and well, the love story of TOM CRUISE (Ethan Hunt) of Mission Impossible. Credits also to the song by Taylor Swift and Adelle.
