Summary: The ties that bind run deep in the Mafia

Disclaimer: Amano owns all. In every way possible.

Basil knows he's not a child any more, was never much of a child even when he was, but still thinks this is too much to ask from him. Master had said to protect Tsuna-dono at all costs, regardless of the situation, and Basil knows that he can't say no or even attempt to leave. If this, would keep the Vongola Tenth safe, and make Master happy, then this was what he had to do. His feelings did not factor into it; The Family was not built on whims, he's been told often enough.

Pulling off his tie and unbuttoning his jacket, he steps into the room and doesn't bother averting his eyes from the pair looking back. There is no contempt or anger; just a sense of amusement that makes Basil's blood run cold and he has to forcibly unclench his fists. Xanxus speaks then and Basil almost flinches at the sound, "I hope the brat knows what you're doing for him, the lengths you'll go to protect him and keep him safe in that bubble of his."

"You'll go to" is the only thing Basil's mind is stuck on, "lengths you will go to" There would be more then; Basil was naive to think otherwise. What good member of the Varia, the Mafia even, would pass up the chance to hold something like this over Iemitsu's head.

Xanxus is sitting on the edge of the bed, feet firmly on the floor and knees wide apart. There are no feathers in his hair; they disappeared years ago after an altercation with Squalo, that no one who valued their lives, asked about. His gaze isn't hungry and that, Basil supposes, is just as bad as if it was. He has no idea what to do now and waits for Xanxus to take the lead.
