Author Notes: This is just a small drabble that was dying to make its way onto my computer. This is the first DBZ fiction I have written in five years, and I have not seen the show in about four years, so I don't expect all the details to be prefect. I may or may not continue this. It all depends on how people like it.
If Everyone Cared
The screen door slammed as a young girl ran out into the midnight rain. Her black hair instantly became soaked, as did her clothes. Her red shirt clung to her body as her tears mixed in with the rain. There was some muffled yelling coming from inside the house, but she just ignored her parents yelling. She found herself sitting on a small wooden swing that hung from an oak tree in her backyard.
This was supposed to be her big day. Son Pan's eighteenth birthday, and all that was on anyone's mind was the sudden engagement of her best friend Bra and her uncle Goten. She was tired of hearing everyone congratulate them, and having to remind her guests that today was her birthday.
Pan's bare feet barely touched the ground as the wind gently moved the swing. The yelling from her house had stopped, and she could hear the gentle sound of laughter once again. She heard the sound of the door opening once again and chose to look away as someone walked towards her. Gentle hands were placed on her back, and soon the swing was moving faster.
"Pan-chan, I'm really sorry about Bra. She's just so excited about the whole thing." The sound of his voice gave him away. Trunks was the only one with enough sense to check on her. "Today was supposed to be your special day."
"Thank you Trunks-kun." She gave a small smile. "But I should be happy for her. She is my best friend." Trunks continued to push her on the old swing, just like when they were younger. They both ignored the rain that was pouring on them.
"I don't blame you. This was your big day."
Pan dragged her feet along the ground, forcing the swing to stop. "I overreacted." She hopped of the swing, and turned to face him. She could barely make out his features in the moonlight, his purple hair stood out the most.
He moved closer to the black haired girl and place his hand on her shoulder. "Lets get you changed, your soaked." Pan merely nodded as he led her inside through the back door. They were able to bypass both her parents, and all of the guests as they made their way to Pan's bedroom.
Pan didn't realize how tired or cold she was until she saw her welcoming bed. She gave an involuntary yawn, and Trunks chuckled. She quickly grabbed her pajamas and rushed into her adjoining bathroom to change. When she came out Trunks was sitting on her bed, waiting for her.
"I'm just going to sleep. I'm sorry Trunks."
He smiled at her, as he pulled back the blue covers on her bed. She gladly clambered onto her bed and laid down. "I'll just tell them that your sleeping." He pulled the covers over her body and let them rest on her shoulders. "Good night Pan-chan." He leaned down and kissed her on the forehead. "Sweet dreams."
She was asleep before he even left the room.
